So my best friend has been given the green light by her long-time boyfriend to look for a ring! :appl: :appl:
She said she wants a "vintage" style... by which I THINK she actually means "diamond-encrusted." :cheeky: She linked to some Tacori halo rings and said, "Blingbunny, I need your help, step-by-step because I have no idea and I know you know about rings. You said there are like, different colors?? What color do I need? What about inclusions?"

I thought the best approach would be to give her some basic info re: cut/color/clarity and take her to try some rings on, without overwhelming her with too much info. So I'm making a trip to NYC to look at engagement rings with her.

What do you think, NYCers?? Where's the best place to go for a newbie who has no idea what she is looking for? Norman Landsberg? White Flash? I have no idea what her budget is.

Go to Good Old Gold on Long Island. They carry Tacori, Beverely K, and Gabriel and Co. All have vintage settings but there is a vast price range between those brands. Plus, they carry newly cut vintage diamonds..August Vintage Rounds and August Vintage Cushions, so I can't think of a better place for her to shop with that kind of ring in mind! (I don't live in NYC, but I have bought diamonds from GOG more than once!)

PS...call in advance and make an appointment. She needs an idea of the budget if she wants them to show her a few diamonds that might work with the settings she likes.

Thanks, Diamondseeker.

Would GOG be a good place to be able to physically try on lots of settings in one appointment? I think she is looking for a round halo, but knowing her, she'll want to try on LOTS of different rings to be satisfied.
