Congratulations! I''m so glad that it went well, and it must be a huge relief now that it''s over and you did so well.

OMG!!!!! Major CONGRATULATIONS Naty!

I actually just logged onto PS to see how you were feeling and to send some dust your way, but it looks like you were fine!

I''m so pleased for you, and so glad that you weren''t held back by feeling poorly.

Congrats again, I hope you are having a huge celebration tonight - you deserve it.

Well done!

Seriously thrilled for you.

LOL.

Jen

OMG!!!Yes Octavia! I feel soooo relieved!

You''ll be fine. All I did to study was the watch the online review course and take 3 practice tests. I walked out thinking I failed, but I passed with room to spare. Just relax and don''t overthink things!

Naty, congrats!

Megumic, I''m sure you did absolutely fine on the MPRE.

Finally, I''m not sure I want to be a lawyer enough to actually complete the bar application. OMG is that big steaming pile of awful.

Thanks everyone - I think it went fine, but I guess we''ll seee in 5 weeks! For NJ I am already fine since they accept a grade of C or better in Professional Responsibility, so it''s really just for NY.

What''s everyone got on the forefront? I have spring break this week, so I''ll be catching up on work, outlining, and wedding planning. What a drag.

Thank you so much sillyberry!

I have a question for you guys.

This semester I have MUCH LESS work than I have ever had in law school. It is my second year, second semester. I am beginning to get very worried that I am suddenly doing something wrong, or slacking. Maybe I am just more efficient and understand the lingo. I don''t know, or maybe my course load just isn''t as bad. Every other semester i had papers to write and this one I don''t.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? I hope this isn''t too ridic. of a worry!

Don''t worry, just enjoy it while it lasts!

I''ve had a mix of very busy and not-so-busy semesters, it really depends on the classes you''re taking and whether you have any outside work taking up time (journal, internship, etc). This is my last semester and I''m only taking 13 credits, so I''ve got more free time than I can handle...but I know that this is the last time I''ll have the luxury, so I''m not adding anything else to the mix. As long as you understand most of what''s going on in your classes and don''t feel like you''re being a slacker, you should be fine.

Ladies, thank you so much for the dust a couple weeks ago...I GOT THE JOB!!!! I''m bursting because I wanted to tell my hubby first and I can''t get ahold of him, so I had to come here to let it out
9.gif
. It''s not final yet, since the HR person left a message to call her tomorrow for all the details, but I''m 99% sure I''m going to take it. Hooray for not being a casualty of the job market!

CONGRATULATIONS!
I''m thrilled for you! You must have done really, really well in this job market. So pleased to hear this.

I haven''t got the job I interviewed for, but I''m ok with that, it wasn''t the one for me at all.

Can I just say that I hate accountancy? Are you forced to do accountancy in the US to get a law degree? If not, I''d consider moving. I''m so bad at it, it''s funny. Or it would be if I didn''t have accountancy exams in a few weeks.

Octavia!!! CONGRATULATIONS on the new job

NeverEndingUpgrade, welcome! I missed your post last week, sorry!
Where are you thinking of going to school?

Jen
Mrs. Mitchell,

Just checking back in. I''ve been a little tied up with my graduate classes which are on 10-week quarters & are moving pretty quickly.

There is a private law school here in Dallas that is VERY expensive, and a new public one opening up and starting classes in Fall 2012. It would probably be at least half the price. Since I am older and one year won''t make much difference at this point, I am thinking of applying to the new public one which will start taking applications in Fall 2011.

What I am thinking about doing is studying for the LSAT over the summer, then take it in October and see how I do. Then I can assess if I want to apply to law school. All the students in my grad program (Dispute Resolution) are law school applicants who have been wait-listed, mostly because of low LSAT scores. My law professor says not to worry about the LSAT scores, but obviously, they matter.

At first, I was worried that going to law school in my mid-40''s would be financial suicide, but now I am thinkg that NOT going would be financial suicide, since my earning capabilities would be much higher once I graduate. As you can see, it is all up in the air. Timewise, I have so many other personal issues pulling me in different directions, that even grad school is challenging with the work load, but I am adjusting. So, I have to still have a lot to consider and people to talk to before I take the plunge!

Hi everyone! Just thought I''d check in now that it''s EXAM TIME (dum-da-dum-dummmmm). Are you all hanging in there? Just a couple weeks until another year is down (and until I''m done forever! can''t wait!). I''ve just got Employment Discrimination, Family Law, and Consumer Law, none of which should be horrible. Oh, and finishing/Bluebooking my 60+ page research paper. But I have no focus left, so studying is not going well...

Also, one of the states I''m taking the bar in is killing me -- I have to get fingerprinted, but in order to get fingerprinted I have to give my employer''s name and address, but I''m not actually employed yet so I can''t submit the form online! Argh. There''s nothing in the instructions about this, so I will have to call on Monday to find out what I''m supposed to do. Plus, they misspelled my name so I have to call a different office to get it corrected (this is why handwritten applications are so last century, much more potential for error than the online ones). Blech. Why did I ever want to do this?

Anyway, if any of you are here (i.e. avoiding studying like me), check in so we can support each other through the last few days of the semester

Bumping again
1.gif
I''ve got one exam down, two plus Bluebooking my paper to go. Sending dust in all my fellow students'' directions for good exam luck!

I only have one exam to go - I''m waiting for Private Client and Ethics results, but I''ve passed everything else (including accountancy, still not sure how that happened...) so
I''m hopeful that I''ll graduate in July.

In the meantime, I''m working at the law school a few hours a week supporting a second year law student with a disability. I''m really enjoying it so far, he''s a lot of fun to work with. I''ll be working for the exams office over the next few weeks, invigilating undergraduate law exams. Not exciting, but reasonably well paid.

How is everyone else getting on?

Jen

Woof. Definitely NOT lovin'' the law.

I have three exams and a 30-pager to bluebook and edit - all between now and May 10. I''ve been in the lib 12+ hours per day, but it will alllllll be worth it!

Good luck to all on exams, papers, etc, etc.

Hang in there - it''s horrible, but hopefully worth it!
Good luck.

Ahh, I wish! Mine is 63 pages and counting...that''s a heckuvalotta footnotes...and he wants it on the 4th!

So obviously, it seems like a good idea to spend time here instead of working on it, haha.

Lets see...

4-5 page book analysis due Sunday (haven''t read the book yet)
short comment for voting rights due Sunday and longer comment due the following Saturday
3 in-class exams (evidence, criminal procedure, and legal ethics)
15-20 page paper for law and the culture wars from the fall
20 pages in some form or fashion for marriage (probably 3 6-7 page response papers)
5-7 page paper for a class I took LAST WINTER
take home exam for same class from over a year ago
journal comment (yeah right)

OH HOLY HELL

This is not going to be pretty...but then graduation! Or else my mom is going to disown me!

By the way: to anyone out there, the moral of the story is not to put off writing papers just because you can

Sounds about like my schedule
7.gif

1 25-30 page substantial paper for Marriage (from last year)
1 25-30 page paper for Law and Philosophy (thankfully I can do a crappy job on this one since I don''t need the substantial credit - just a passing grade)
2 10-15 page papers for Law and Economic Development
1 short Korean essay + presentation
1 long Korean essay + presentation
1 Korean exam
1 research paper for Spanish

I''m halfway through my first Law/Econ paper, finished up a Korean paper (not one of the two on the list) and hopefully will get a third done on the Marriage paper tomorrow.

Sillyberry and BEG, how do you still have work left to do from last year's classes? I don't think my school would allow us to carry stuff over, which is a PITA at the end of each semester, but apparently a good thing overall!

When are your graduations? Mine is in 20 days and I CAN'T WAIT!!

We still have work left over because we studiously ignore deadlines.

Actually, that''s not entirely true. Papers are supposed to be turned in by the end of the following quarter, but some professors just want them turned in by the 3L paper deadline. And others I just blew off the deadline.

And I''m not sure how many days until graduation, but there are 28 days, 16 hours and 6 minutes until we''re done with school. Not that I''m counting.

I''m jealous. They refuse to mark our papers if they are more than 5 days after the deadline. The max we got to write a paper this year was 10 days, too. Sucks.

What SB said.

Ok, one econ paper down. Whew.

Need to start on my marriage paper today. Gahhh.
