Wooo Hooo! We had a snow day today too!
1.gif
FI was home as well, which was a nice treat
31.gif
I could use one more to actually catch up on work, as catching up on the dvr and finishing taxes and the FAFSA were far more important! Sorry to hear about your competition Mrs. S, but at least it''s still good for the resume!

Ooooh thank you for the dust! I''m hopeful, but I know there will be at least 6 other candidates, so I''m not counting on it just yet. Such a hard time to be job hunting!

Sarah, sorry you didn''t go through to the next round of the competition. I know you must have put in so much work, I''d have been crushed too. Sorry!

Yay for a snow day. We have a home study day today, which I''m currently spending on PS.
20.gif
DH and DD are home too, so I''m going to have to shut myself in my little office to get any work done. Maybe

Octavia, hope you''re feeling better today.

Jen

Potential law school student checking in. Since it is snowing outside, I am going to pour myself a cup of coffee and carefully read each and every post!

Go for it NeverEnding! I find that some of the most insightful comments in class come from the "more experienced crowd" and I think it adds to the dynamic. Plus, I think the older you are the more you''ll value the education and appreciate it. I was out of college and working a few years before I started law school and even find that little bit of time has made the experience far more enriching. But it was also tough to get back in the swing of things for sure!

In other news, recently got word that we''ll be having a Fall Break for a whole week next Fall! What''s more, it''s the whole week right after our wedding! WOOO HOOOOO!
36.gif

Thanks for the get-well wishes, Sarah and Mrs M! I think I'm mending now, it didn't hurt that we had two snow days this week and I don't have classes on Fridays, so I had almost the whole week off! Lots of work still to do, of course, but it was nice to be able to lay on the couch instead of sit in the classroom. I haven't been terribly productive, so I still have hours of work to do tomorrow.

Sarah, sorry you didn't make it to the next round. When I did the competition, only the top two teams went on, and there were 16 or so teams in total, so I didn't have high hopes even though my partner and I did pretty well. The 3Ls who had competed before won both slots, which was expected but still sort of disappointing. Point being, try again next year! With another year of experience under your belt, and with firsthand knowledge of how the competition works, you'll be in a great position to advance!

Meg, lucky you having the week after your wedding off! DH and I got married in October and it was pretty stressful to do it mid-semester, would have been so much better if I'd had time off afterward. Enjoy it!

Mrs M, I hear you on the difficulty of getting work done at home...when my DH is here, it's pretty hopeless. He tries to be supportive but is constantly coming over and asking me questions, reading over my shoulder, suggesting that we go get lunch or coffee together, etc. Oh, and his computer died so he's always asking to use mine (or just stealing it if I go to make tea or something), and I HATE people, even DH, using my computer! Especially when I'm trying to do work. Then he acts all hurt when I get annoyed! We're in a 1-br apartment so I don't even have an office where I can get away. Sigh. I hope you got some good work done, though.

Thanks meg! I need to do my taxes and FAFSA, as well. Maybe that''s a good task for this weekend since the next two weeks will be rough. I have some good news I wanted to share with y''all I have an interview on Friday!!
5.gif
I need to brush up my writing sample, but other than that I am ready. Wish me luck! It would be part-time starting essentially now and more hours in the summer (I am limited by my school as to how many I can work as a 1L right now so it''s only like 10 hours until May).

Good luck!!!! Sending dust your way.

Hey everyone! I am so exhausted, so I am only popping on for a sec. But I wanted to let you know that I believe my interview went well! Either way it was a great experience. He interviewed me for an hour and a half, so I think that''s a good sign. But I have a lot of competition. Anyway thanks again for the dust/support!

Can I just say, Saturday morning bar pre-prep classes suck. Apparently they're proven to increase passage rates...but I don't see how spending all my Saturday mornings during February in class watching videos about contracts instead of in bed catching up on sleep is doing me ANY good. And yet, I'll be up at 7:45 tomorrow getting ready anyway. Blech. Sorry for the pity-party. Other 3Ls, is anyone else's school doing this?

Wow Octavaia major sad face there!!
14.gif
I hate early mornings. Not to mention I love my Saturdays..

Bump..how is everyone''s week? Almost Friday, yay!

Want to join the post grad thread as we wait to hear back from schools?

NeverEndingUpgrade, welcome! I missed your post last week, sorry!
Where are you thinking of going to school?

I got some exam results yesterday and I passed the class I was most worried about. Financial services and accountancy. WTH do we have to do that for anyway?! So relieved I got through.

I have my hellish day on Thursdays - private client, commercial property then litigation practice from 6-9pm. I''m so tired by the end of it, it just isn''t funny.

How''s everyone else doing? Hope you''re all having a good week.

Jen

YAYAYAYAYAY! We got a snow day! I just got an email to say classes are postponed, and on a hell-day Thurdsay, too! Yay!
The best part? There is no snow where I am.

Enjoy your snow day!

We are right in this snow belt in the Northeast and no cancellations yet! I don''t have class until 4pm so I''m going to sit tight and work from home to see how this weather develops. We shall see!

Hello everyone
35.gif

I am a PhD student in civil law and an attorney at the legal council of the state in Greece. My PhD thesis defence is next Thursday! Dust please
12.gif
because i need to get done and over with the PhD, since i''m getting married in May
4.gif

DUST, DUST, DUST, DUST, DUST!

Good luck with it, I really hope it goes well for you.

Jen

Lots of dust, Naty! Your job sounds really interesting, too!

While I'm here, could I request some dust, too? I have an interview coming up on Tuesday for a really terrific opportunity -- it would be clerking for the administrative law judges at a federal agency. Since I want to clerk AND want to be in government service, this would satisfy both requirements and get my foot in the door for the future (it's a 2-year position), so I'm really crossing my fingers. I actually thought the position must have been filled because I sent the application so long ago, so I was shocked when I got the call, but I guess they were just taking their time sorting out applicants! Anyway, I'm kind of nervous because I feel like there's a lot riding on this interview and I can use all the help I can get
1.gif
.

I also have a midterm due on Monday. When I decided to take the class, I thought it would be great to finally have a class where my entire grade wasn't riding on the final, but it's turning out to be a huge pain in the bum. So be forewarned, all you 1Ls and 2Ls -- just because something sounds like a good idea at the beginning of the semester, doesn't mean it really is!

Mrs. Mitchell and Octavia thank you sooooo much for the dust!
4.gif

Octavia, LOTS of dust both for your job interview and your exams!!!
37.gif
I wish you the very best!!
5.gif

Well gals I didn''t get the job I interviewed for, BUT it''s good news because after the interview I had decided to turn it down.
12.gif
Back to the drawing board. Ugh Octavia I am feeling you I have a midterm Monday.
14.gif

Dust to everyone that needs it (defence, interviews, exams, etc)! Hope you''re having a happy Saturday!

Guys, the most unbelievable thing happened to me
40.gif
I caught a cold, with fever and a soar throat and in a matter of five hours i totally lost my voice
32.gif

I mean I REALLY LOST MY VOICE
14.gif
The doctor suggested that i stay in bed, drink hot teas, take my medicine and not dare to talk AT ALL. Hopefully everything will be alright until the PhD defence on Thursday...
15.gif
I''m so sad and nervous...i can''t calm down...

Ok, calm thoughts!
That happened to me on the Thursday before my Monday wedding. It''s amazing what a difference a few days will make, honestly. You may not feel 100% but you will feel an awful lot better than you do right now.

You''ve done the right thing seeing your Doctor - if for any reason this does linger, you''ll have a medical cert for re-scheduling your viva.

So sorry to hear you''re sick but try not to panic.

Hugs.
Jen

Thank you so much Jen!

Hugs
5.gif

Naty panicking is the opposite of what you need to do, you need to rest and stay calm so your body can fight that nasty cold! :) Sending you good luck but now also feel better dust!!!

Thank you Sarah
35.gif

Naty, how are you feeling today?

Thank you Mrs Mitchell for thinking of me. I saw my doctor again who insisted that i stay at home until Thursday. With all the medecine i''m taking, i''ve seen an improvement and my voice is back (uh...well...sort of...), but i know for a fact that if i start talking for a while, the coughing will come back. I''m trying to avoid talking and also to calm down because the stress and the anxiety aren''t helping at all with my condition. I cross my fingers and hope that everything will develop well...
Thanks again for everything,
Hugs

Still thinking about you Naty..glad to hear you''re resting.

Naty, get better!

I have two interviews: one today and one tomorrow. Problem is - not sure I want either job and of course neither pays, so no sway to the pocketbook. Ugh. I hate interviews.
14.gif

What do all the other lovely law ladies have planned for summer jobs??

Sarah and mequmic, thank you so much for the moral support!
Mequmic, i know what you mean about jobs, interviews and...paychecks... Dust for the interviews anyway
