grouping ags ideal and gia excellent together as one and trying to separate them from gia ''very good'' and ''good'' is not a prudent way of going about distinguishing differences. there are far too many inconsistent combinations under the umbrella of the gia ''cut'' grading to be able to make such definite conclusions.Date: 2/9/2007 3:11:35 PM

How many of you think that you could consistently pick an AGS Ideal (GIA Excellent) cut diamond from a ''very good'' cut diamond from ''eye clean'' (12 inches away) if everything else was equal i.e., size color etc.,?
The same question but ''Good'' cut.
no, because you can get an ags1 or 2 for not getting 'ideal' in polish or symmetry, which do not effect light performance.Date: 2/9/2007 3:31:59 PM

Lets take GIA out of my hypo. AGS000(Ideal) from AGS1 (excellent) and then AGS2(very good)...does that work?
