Hi All,

I just have a quick question for you all.

I am attempting to clean my halo e-ring however I can''t seem to get the diamond spotless clean underneath the diamond (the diamond is open underneath). Its hard to really get in there and I am not really sure what to use (I am a little paranoide to scrub it with a toothbrush - not sure if I could even get it in here

I was wondering how do you guys clean your rings??

P.S. Buying one of those ultrasonic''s is not an option.

Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions :)

I use a wooden toothpick or cocktail stick for mine very carefully to get into the basket and around the diamond - you can use a toothbrush just be careful the bristles don''t catch in the prongs.

My diamond is set very low in the setting and it''s also hard to get underneath the stone. I saw on Leon Mege''s site that he recommends a gentle soak in a liquid soap and water solution and a gentle scrub with a soft-bristled toothbrush. That''s what I do. I rinse it well, and blot it dry with a lint-free cloth.

Pipe cleaners? (Do they still make those things? Haven''t seen them in years)

LOL! I haven''t either! Theres a memory..... If I remember rightly they had wire insides so could potentially scratch a setting.

You could bring to to a jeweler to have them us or steam clean it-that really works the best. But I also use a soft bristled toothbrush-you really can''t cause any harm with a toothbrush unless it gets stuck under a prong.

Ha-ha -- pipe cleaners! I forgot about those. I''ll bet you can get them at Hobby Lobby or Ben Franklin. But I don''t know if they''d be too stiff and likely to lodge under a prong.

I used to make dollies out of pipe cleaners

True, but if you were really careful, I think they''d be handy! As I recall (of course my memory could be very faulty) they were pretty soft, other than the wire?

Kinda woolly....

Yeah, I went and looked up a Hobby Lobby store, but didn''t notice a search function. I''m curious now.

In the toothbrush aisle you can find little conical toothbrushes (DenTek is the brand I have) that are made to clean between the teeth, like flossing. I use these for those nooks and crannies. They are soft bristled and the wire is rubber coated. They look a little like tiny mascara brushes.

Use one of the gemcare cleaner? Solution, just dip and wash. To dry use the compress air cans use for PC cleaning?

Wink demonstrating how he use it.

About pipe cleaners, maybe you guys can go and check if they are available at a local gun shop? Back home we use them to clean our rifles.

Thanks you guys for all the suggestions. I will definitely try them out.
