California & NY non-essential services (jewellers) - mandatory lockdown. Update from Caysie van Bebber.

I chatted with Caysie this morning. California is going off the rails. They’re on mandatory lockdown - no non-essential services; they were given pitiful time to prep and timing of relief is unknown.

Her benches are in California, and they’re pretty well hamstrung. Jobs that require time in the workshop (sizing, repairs, rhodium plating), and jobs that require components that were stored in offsite vaults for safety (some stones, some mounts), can’t be completed at this time.

She's asked folks to reach out to her about concerns re. personal projects or before placing an order, and to please let PSers know that she and her crew will be be doing their best to complete all the projects that they're able to in a timely fashion. She's my friend, as are many other PS vendors, so I'm asking folks to please be patient with your jewellers whilst everyone navigates this induced mass hysteria.

I don't know if I agree that California is off the rails. I think we are doing everything to keep people as safe as possible. We are a very densely populated state so unless we want this to go on for longer, this is what needs to be done.

As far as I know, the term lockdown is not the correct term. As of last night, the term shelter in place or safer in place the only policy we must follow. A lockdown is more restrictive. As long as people can go grocery shopping or must

That's right nala - it's stay in place ouside of necessary services. Apologies for my wording. Banks, roads, gas stations, grocery stores, pharmacies - all staying open.

I'm trying to figure out what we'll have to do here in NY, the two-house and animal situations are going to get complicated
