Sooooo.... as some of you may recall from my previous 1001 threads on the topic

, I have been looking for a ring to celebrate the birth of my first child! Well I finally made a decision!

I thought first about getting a little bezel eternity, then an channel set eternity, then I was looking at Beverly K... well nothing was quite right so I never pulled the trigger. I really wanted a ring that I could wear with my engagement ring, and the ultra low height of my e-ring posed problems because I am obsessed with the heights of my rings matching.

So I went to Tiffany''s and other high end stores to try on rings, and I fell in looooooove

with Memoire''s .50ctw half eternity band. The five point stones looked perfect with my e-ring diamond, and its 2mm height was a great match for my solitaire. However, the price was way out of my league.

So in came Brian Gavin Diamonds! For an incredibly reasonable price they are making me a custom 11 stone band using five point diamonds that will be as low profile as the Memoire -- right around 2mm. I chose them for this project in part because of the high quality prong work that they have been producing -- I am a stickler for prongs -- and also because they were able to make me the lowest profile ring possible. They are also able to provide BGD signature diamond melee is H/I color, which is important to me because my diamond is a K and I wanted as little contrast as possible.

Here are the sexy CADs! I asked them to use a bezel for the final diamonds'' outer edges, and to make the prongs as close together as possible, like the memoire, so you really get to see the outline of the diamond looking down from the top! I think they nailed it!

Any comments are welcome, I haven''t yet approved these so if something jumps out at you please let me know!

Note that the metal is 15% thicker in these CADs and the prongs are... well... bizarro

Looks great to me! I''m dying to see pictures of the final product! I know, I know, it''s going to be a couple weeks right? So glad you could find exactly what you are looking for.

Can''t wait to see it done!

yumzie! can''t wait for hand shots!

can''t wait to see your hand shots. The CAD''s look great!

DD- So glad you''ve finally figured out what you want to commemorate Hunter''s birth. It will be gorgeous!

Talk about service... Here is the record of e-mails I exchanged with Lesley today:

2:54pm -- received CADs from BGD

4:00pm -- asked Lesley to please verify the exact height of the ring off the finger

4:07pm -- was told that CADs are not an exact science, but that the ring would be the height of "the depth of the diamonds plus a teensy bit"
9.gif

7:20pm -- asked "What is the depth of the diamonds"
41.gif
and asked for confirmation that the ring would come in very close to 2mm

7:56pm -- was told that Brian was measuring the CADS to be sure and they would get back to me asap

9:45pm -- received these pictures...

Just to be sure they got it right, they made the wax and measured it! All before I approved the CADs (I could still make any changes I wanted to make of course)! I think it looks great and I don''t think I need to make any changes... and I''m glad I don''t have to worry about the height any more.

dd, I haven''t even had my coffee yet and I''m jumping up and down after reading about and seeing the photos of your new project! This is the ring I have been trying to hunt down (based on an A. Jaffe ring I tried on at Fortunoff that was ten 5 pt. stones- but too much money for the name!) Absolutely faboo!! And Brian''s using the same "cuff" ending I have on my five stone. Very very nice. Now...... once you try it on, you have to let us know if you feel any pinching between your fingers of prongs or that end cuff. If you don''t? I want one!! The only little bitty thing I would change for myself is to have the inside edges buffed a little bit, not exactly comfort fit but just smoothed a little bit. Other than that? I''m in l

ve!

Ok, I''m truly not being nosey, I''m just trying to plan ahead. 55 points of H/I SI clarity...... under or over $800?

I have the very distinct feeling that Brian and Lesley are going to be taking a LOT of orders for this ring.

That''s great, dd!! I cant wait to see it done! Its going to be GORGEOUS!!!!

dd, I''m sorry I asked you the question about price. When I reread my own post, it seemed terribly tacky to me.
I''ve emailed Lesley myself for a price quote. Again, I apologize. I just got very excited when I saw what you''re having made because I''ve been trying to decide on the same ring for a while.

wow, that''s amazing! SUper duper service!!!!

Very Gorgeous! what service and design... I''ll look incredible and can''t wait to see the finished product!

Wow, you all are so supportive of bling! And me!

will you be wearing this ring along with your ering and band or separately?
Thanks Faye! My plan is to wear it with my e-ring because I have always wanted an eternity band to wear on that finger with my solitaire! When I have another child I will either add a second stacker to the wedding set or I will wear the second baby ring on my right hand along with my original wedding band, which is another half eternity with 8 pointers. The wedding band just doesn't work with my new solitaire, which is an upgrade from my original e-ring, so I wear in as a RHR now.

I don't actually ever plan to pass this ring on to Hunter or his future wife or anything... it is just for me to celebrate a special occassion!

It is a size 6.25! I love memoire but I just cannot justify the price. This band from BGD is literally 1/3 the price of the Memoire at a local jeweler! I know Pearlman''s is more reasonably priced, but still... but that''s just me, I am a frugal gal.

OK, I am a little cheap!

LOL! Gemgirl don''t even worry at all! I wasn''t offended in the least! It is over $800 but still very very reasonable IMHO, much less than a similar completely custom ring would cost elsewhere. The custom process adds a little, so I suspect that if they decide to add this ring to their catalogue one day it mught be a little less.

I actually asked them to round the inside edge as per your idea. I think the sharp edge in the CAD is just because it is a CAD and isn''t the actual design, but I mentioned it anyways. And yup, that is your bezel at the end! I asked for it exactly because of the potential for poking/pinching! I hope it helps and I will let you know for sure!!
