CAD help

Hi everyone,

Just got the first set of CADS back from David Klass for an engagement ring and looking for some feedback from the more experienced here. The centre stone is an 8 x 6.5 x 4.5 mm oval blue sapphire and the ring will be worn alone. David sent us two different ideas for the gallery and will be changing the ring size to 4.75. The only thing we want to change so far is to have milgrain added on the band. Any other thoughts or changes?

Pretty ring idea - Congrats on the engagement!
I'm not super experienced as some on here/ but I have done a few rings with DK.
My first thought is I love seeing the basket peeking out from under the stone on the top view.
If this is what you are looking for - confirm it will show up in real life. I approved a cad that showed this- and it ended up not translating at all in his finished product.
The beading detail - is it really going to be cast or added like milgrain later?
If it's a cast detail- I'd want to see a real life version of his that's been done that way before.
What do you think about tapering the shank a bit?
Do you possibly have stone pictures to share too? That would be lovely!

Like @Rfisher , I really like that the basket is showing a bit from the top view. I think the CADs look great. The addition of milgrain on the band is a great choice.

Do you know which basket you are leaning toward? They are both gorgeous but they also present themselves differently from the top view.

Thanks for your feedback! The inspiration ring is one David has done in the past, so he's familiar with the beading detail and it does peek out a bit in one he's done, I've attached photos. I think I may be leaning towards the basket on the right (in 3 of the CADs) because the scrolling design might fit with the milgrain on the band a bit more and it's similar, but not exactly the same, as the inspiration ring. The sapphire is from Gemfix, I've attached Andrew's close-up picture and my not-great iphone picture.
