I am not great at this either but I do know the PS theory is always that a visible difference in diamond size is 0.2 mm. Your pave band tapers by 0.1 mm per stone. And with your petite finger size you may not see any appreciable taper when looking at your hand. I would ask DK to taper more aggressively (2.4, 2.2, 2, 1.8...) or even more if you want the taper to be really visible. Ask him for a couple of versions. Also if you have the diamond girdles on the shared prong pave exposed they will act as a serrated knife to the band worn adjacent. This was discussed at length. But this is not the case if you do channel bead prong set stones (like the JA examples @tyty333 proposed). If you like that look (which could pair well with your TGP inspired elements on the side) you would solve your spacer problem. With respect to inspiration versus copy cat: DK may have put the shank bar under your center stone to avoid true plagiarism. You can ask him to remove it to really copy the inspiration, but I would leave it and keep the rosies tiny. That is the best part of the CAD! Also IMO single prongs would look more fluid on this piece. I prefer double prongs in vintage or much more simplistic designs but the choice is your of course! Have fun and congratulations on your engagement.

Note: edited to say the first side stone is 2.7 mm, then 2.4 mm, then the 0.1 taper starts. I do not have the experience to know if this taper will achieve your goal aesthetic but now is the time to get that right!

I actually like the metal under the rose cuts instead of just letting the rose cuts hang in the air. Personal opinion though....definitely ask
for what you want!

I wonder how it would feel without the metal?

He is going to show me cads both ways but I asked him to remove some of the sidestones towards the bottom and to make the sidestones a bit more graduated.

He also gave me a example of my ring with a curved out band. He said it would rub less. Maybe if I have them Soldered together after I’m married they won’t rub? Any idea about that ladies? What do you ladies think of the curved band idea? 5E494F8A-9C01-4FD5-BE05-39A9E853352F.png CCF21AEA-C6E7-4322-9092-A623F67F74ED.png

I don’t know. But I think it would look better if you did the same amount of stones on both bands?

You want a big ring, right? It seems to be like it’s going to be big with both bands. Lotta ring. As long as that is what you want, it’s a great idea.

I used Caysie and she is a designer so I only made one small tweak to her Cad and we were done.

The proportions have to be right and I don’t know how to design and read Cads enough to know what that means here.

I just know it has to be proportional. That is what I am always worried about when I make a ring.

I was thinking the same amount of stones on both bands would be a good idea. I agree.

yes I want it to be a lot of ring. I don’t ever plan to upgrade.

I think I will get the ring made and whew he ships it I’ll ask for a wax version of the band to see what it’ll look like together on my finger.

Yes, I forgot to suggest that I think getting waxes of both is the way to go.

I can’t wait to see it done.

David is currently making my ring. I just recieved my pictures of the platinum rough cast last night and it is freakin AMAZING. Don't be discouraged or regret posting. Even if you only find ONE comment out of 100 helpful, you got that one thing you needed.

I posted wanting to mash up 2 rings and some posters have strong opinions about it. Some said I needed a designer, and i didnt feel i did, and the ideas I received from posters here literally built my dream ring (rockysalamander and bludiva for sure but everyone was amazing). They took my idea and added a few details and ideas to it to make it perfect.

This is an amazing community and they're just trying to save you from making a costly mistake because they've seen it so many times or even experienced it themselves. I appreciated even the comments I didn't agree with because you have to remember EVERY poster here just loves jewelry and are truly trying to help you and not see you disappointed.

I think some of the things youre asking about are purely personal preference so I am not going to comment on it specifically, but I cant echo a prior poster enough and say please don't rush, PLEASE get the wax cast, I understand wanting it for christmas but getting it right forever is far more important since you said you never want to upgrade. Please dont rush, if you're not completely sure you will be disappointed (and I have even seen people blame the caster (David in your case)) when you have no one to blame but yourself because YOU are the designer here so I think thats what the posters are cautioning here.

Good luck and I hope you love your finished product as much as I love mine (so far!)

Did you ask DK if the curved band would keep the stones from eating into the metal on both rings?

I think this design will allow all the diamonds from both rings to eat into the metal of the other ring.

Before you had the rose cut holding the wedding band off of your ering (so the rose cut area would only take the hit). Now you have
all stones being able to hit the metal on both rings.

Ask DK if this new CAD will prevent the diamonds from eating into the metal. Hopefully, there is something there I'm not seeing.

7BBC8DA6-2B8B-4320-AA4B-1F981DA31AC4.jpeg Here is my updated cad for the set! He asked if I wanted anything else changed. The only thing I can think of is the center stone a bit higher. Just wanted to share!

it does look like they removed the metal on the bridge so I could see what it would look like without it.

this is the cad he just sent over. Do you think it still looks like it will be an issue?

If I solder the wedding band to the engagement ring does that fix the concern?

I spoke with David and he added some metal to the wedding band and is shipping out the plastic model of the set so I can see it in person. Here is the cad he sent me today.

he said the extra metal would help with the rubbing issue. And he asked if I wanted any structural changes. He is going to send me a copy of the ring with the C570E4EF-1F12-4748-A153-E0A40E432BFF.png metal under the bridge and without. I’m anxiously awaiting it!!

They came today. What do you ladies think? I am thinking I want to get the ring version without metal On the bridge after seeing the models. I like the way the ring looks. But I am a little unsure if the printed ring has the same side stone sizes as the cad said it would? They seem like they’re smaller when I look at the plastic version? What do you ladies think?
David said the band got stuck to the one sample. So it’s attached to it. I am going with the engagement ring first. But we plan to get the band within the next few months.
Any input?

Will it bother you that the e-ring looks wider on your finger (talker shank height) than the wedding band?

I guess I didn’t really think about it. but honeslty when I look at the ring with the band something feels off. Maybe that’s it. I’m trying to think up ideas for a different band.

That would bother me. I think you need to have them match, it will be more comfortable.

This is what I would expect to match. Unless you specifically requested this size difference, it surprises me it is there, in a set of custom made wedding rings being made together.

What would you do for a band? What style?

The design artist just needs to know you want them the same height off of your finger. Because you have pave on one, and tapered larger stone pave before the matching pave on the other, they have different dimensions. Lots of ways to fix it. The artist should be able to offer solutions.

Hey there, late late to the party but based on my own (very expensive) experience go and try on an eternity band with the exact prong setting as you have here. Make sure it is comfortable when you close your fingers. And I mean really comfortable. Make your fiancee hold your hand, pressing your fingers into the band/prongs and see how that feels.

I hadn't thought about between my fingers before and now realize I have to have bands absolutely smooth or flush between my fingers or else it drives me batty. While I love the look of shared prong rings I just can't wear them. I know plenty of people aren't bothered by this at all but you never know until you know.

About wedding bands. I got married with the plain band he proposed with and have been looking for 5 years for my unicorn. Thank G-d for PS, I think I finally nailed it. What I was originally looking at is SO far off from what I got I'm grateful I waited.

Another thought, is there any chance whatsoever you will wear your wedding band solo? Like on vacation or something? I often leave my ER at home while is why I didn't opt for an curved band. It just looked too pronounced to wear solo. Same for soldering. If you do that and can't wear or don't want to wear your diamond you won't have a separate band to opt for.

I wore the plastic version for a whole two day’s and it wasn’t bugging me so I think it’ll be ok.

I’m just struggling w how to figure out what wedding band or ring jacket will go with it without anything being damaged.

I don’t think I’ll ever wear it solo I think I will go ahead and get a silicone wedding band to wear at work and when we go on vacation. Thank you for your reply!

Oh okay I see what you are saying. I am honeslty not sure what I think of the band. I think I may want something that curves away from the ring entirely like the examples below. What do you think?

these were the examples I found that I was trying to think of something the rose cut stones wouldn’t hit at all. 4AB4EBD4-2727-4845-B343-DF2DBA61717C.png 6C0B270C-6079-47A9-86EA-A2931F464097.png 0C9E004A-D8F5-454D-B116-AEDC7632C427.png B9FBA34A-FBF8-4BAF-97D7-8D8241CED321.png 76F0B826-4C89-4BCA-8105-029A41E11882.jpeg A42DA1FE-707C-48CD-B362-352A7FA994F7.png
