CAD designs

I Have a beautiful 3ct Radiant. Brought it to a designer who put a few of my specifications (halo , micro-pave ,milligrain and trapezoids together and made a design.He said cad would look bulkier than actual ring but the ring came out just as bulky. I need to redo it but am afraid to go the CAD route again. Any wisdom would be appreciated.

I''m sorry you are unhappy with your ring.

Would you be able or willing to post the CAD and a pic of the finished product? Perhaps we could offer some suggestions....

I just had my ring done with a CAD and it turned out better than I had expected. I too was concerned about the way it would look from the CAD drawings but when I got the ring it was not bulky at all. You can see my posting.

You just need to find somebody that is using the latest and greatest cad program out there.

It can be a great experience for you. Im not sure what you ended up with or who you went through, I just know there are better programs out there and the new ray tracing. Makes the photo look life like. You wont get that bulky look. Also remember to shrink the picture down to life size to get a true look at it .

When looking for somebody that has a cad system ask if they use Matrix from Gem Vision and have the updated Version. Also you can have the best system but no talent or imagination? There is ways around the bulky look too.

The bulky look is for the mill and to cut out the design. But they also can render a finished piece for you that looks like the end result also.

I absolutly agree, I couldn''t imagine NOT using a CAD. When I worked with greenlake, they sent me multiple CAD drawings. I have to admit that I was concerned about how much bigger things looked (Prongs) in the CAD.
