Hello all. Thanks to everyone for a great site and TONS of info that I am still digesting. I have a few questions concerning the vendors most talked about on this forum and of course, some diamond questions.

First things first. I am currently serving in Iraq. I had been discussing the M word with my SO before i left....but now it is REALLY going to happen. She has been so great supporting me and i really could never ask for more. I bought her a promise ring before i left with her birthstone (which turned out to be a diamond anyways....just my luck haha), but now it''s time for the real thing. Which is where my questions begin.

I do not want to wait until i am home. As much as i would love the "on the knee" presentation, i do not wish to wait that long before i SHOW her how i feel. So being able to buy a COMPLETE E-ring is a priority for me. As I have no way to buy just the diamond and the setting seperate, have them sent to me...etc. I want to pick out everything and have the entire ring sent to my house in the states, where she can get it and wear it until i get home to her.

I have found a few diamonds i like at GOG, and a setting actually.....but i have not been able to find a way to combine them into a ring on the site. Is this possible at GOG, or am i out of luck?

And then i found an excellent diamond at a great price on WF....but the "transaction failed" when i tried to buy it and a setting...and it says to "call them" But that simply isn''t possible in my current situation.

I checked out JA...but the diamond selection simply wasn''t as big.

So any help would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime i''ll pass some more of my tour of duty looking at some VERY beautiful rings on this site.

Here are my 2 favorite diamonds so far, 10K is about the limit on this soldiers salary.....

Pretty much i need to decide how much of a size difference it will be between a 1.226 and a 1.53 And what the color difference will be with an H or a J.

Once again i run into the problem of not being able to "run down to the mall" and check out diamonds. So i''m going to have to bounce some stuff off this super friendly board and have some faith! No chuckles....it''s gotten me this far, and that''s sayin something where i''m at....

Thanx in advance, sorry for the xtra long first post.

Welcome to Pricesope Airman!

The diamonds you listed are beautiful, I would find out if the SI1 is eye clean. Can you email WF and tell them what happened when you were trying to purchase online; hopefully they have a work around. I would try to send them an email.

This thread should be helpful with size http://www.goodoldgold.com/4Cs/Color/NearColorless/; also just as an fyi a stone shows more color from the side so once it is set in the ring you should not really see any color.

That "size" post is totally awesome.

And i saw the settings at GOG....but my problem is...where does it say if i buy a setting from them...and a diamond...that they will set it for me and it will arrive at my house as a full ring???

I''m really leaning towards the 1.5 now!

Hopefully Allison D will see this, she represents WF. Good luck Airman, and thank you for serving our country, bless you!!!

yes the diamond will be set and arrive as a complete ring.

Thank you for your service.

Welcome Airman! It is good to see more military here!

I think that is a lovely idea to send the completed ring to your GF, I well know how tough these deployments can be, so I am sure it will make your GF so happy and give her something wonderful to concentrate on!!!!! My other PS friends have given great advice and the vendors mentioned will take excellent care of you!

Email Jonathan at GOG and I am sure he will help you. [email protected]

Thanks for your service.

Thank you all for the support. And you are all very welcome. I''ve been enlisted for over 15 years now. It won''t be long before i will be enjoying my many freedoms and watching others fight for them, just as many other have done before me.

I COULD possibly phone the vendor if i have to, but i only get two 15 minute phone calls a week. She''s going to wonder where "her" other phone call went... haha

Email should be fine, explain the situation to the vendors and they will do their utmost to help you! And I know what you mean about the phone calls, they are very precious.

Please don''t hesitate to ask if we can be of help in anyway!

Airman, I'm not sure why your transaction failed, but I'm happy to help you.

I'd suggest that you email Lesley directly ([email protected]); she's available during the off hours to help you, and I'm sure she can help process the transaction for you, if you still wish to.

Airman, be sure to ask Jon for a Military discount!!! We purchased from him earlier this year and when I told him my hubby is presently deployed for 15 months, he told me he always trys to do what he can with regards to price for MM's and we got a little extra off the PS discounted price :-)

I tried to email WF and ask a couple questions, but i did not get a response. I''m 99% positive though that it is the email system here. It''s VERY picky as to what gets to go out and what gets to come in.... I''ll try from my Hotmail address and see if that makes a difference. Now I just have to get to a "special" computer that will allow me to access "Hotmail" hahahaha YES...EVERYTHING is a pain in the ass when you are living in a tent in the middle of a desert....

Oh no, maybe someone can think up a work around!

I know the email can be picky, we will sort something out!

Wishing you the best on finding the ''special computer'', but I''m also smiling because I work in the middle east and you probably have faster internet in Iraq than I do!! I''m guessing you don''t get random sites ''blocked due to popular demand'' either?

Email is definitely the way to go as you won''t need to worry about time zones when ringing? We''ve bought a few things from pricescope vendors (Whiteflash, Wink Jones, Leon Mege, and Pearlmans) long distance and I''ve been very pleased with the service. Shipping within the US should keep things simpler too as arguing with customs about why your gemstones and diamonds must have ''made in USA'' engraved on them to avoid customs duty is not the best!!

Unsure how i missed this post. A direct email might work. Thank you so much! I'll shoot an email off and see what happens. The firewall and proxy here are SUPER sensitive to any "internet site emails" And the time difference should not be an issue as i work from 5p.m. until 7 a.m. and i am 7 hours ahead of East Coast time.
