Hi everyone,
First time poster. I've been reading the forum for weeks now though - its such a wealth of information.

My question is this. Is it possible to tell if a diamond is "eye-clean" by a picture? I'm hoping to buy one online, but I feel like thats such a gamble when you're looking at si1 and si2 diamonds.

Thank you so much for your time.

I think you can sometimes tell - they need to provide you with big pictures and more than one picture. A video wouldn't hurt either. If they are a reputable jeweler they will also verify if the stone is eye clean (to their specifications, which vary form vendor to vendor).

Buy from a vendor with a good return policy so you can send it back if it's not eye clean. Some vendors provide free shipping both ways whereas some vendors only provide free shipping one way. If you're really worried, order the diamond unset to make sure it is eye clean to you then send it back (or elsewhere) for setting.

Perfect, I'll definitely keep that in mind. Thank you for the input I really appreciate it.

Also in working with a reputable online vendor who is holding the inventory, you can simply ask if it is eye clean....being very specific about eye clean from whatever distance you choose.
All in addition to the good advice on the post above!
:))

Oh, most vendors don't check to see if stones are eye clean from the sides. If that's important to you, you should specify.

It will be difficult to find a SI2 that is eye clean from all angles, but you can definitely try!
