Buying a ring in southern Ontario

Hello,

I live in southern Ontario and I'm about to purchase an engagement ring.

It's 14K yellow gold band, 0.70 carat diamond. H colour, SI2, triple-X cut. Round solitaire. It is a certified Canadian stone from a mine in the Northwest Territories (something she wanted).

How much should I expect to pay? I found it as an independant jeweller. It seems that the chain stores (Peoples, Mappins, etc) charge noticably higher prices.

I'm new to this engagement game - so I'm kinda nervous.

In terms of designer, I really like Sin Kim (http://www.sinkimjewellery.com).

You should stick with GIA or AGS certifications to really understand the appropriate grading. The pricing for an accurately GIA graded 0.7 H SI should be around CDN $2000 - $3500 if the grading is accurate.
