Buying a Ring Box

I never love the boxes I see in jewelry stores, or that rings are delivered in, even by the good craftsmen. I tend to like boxes that are simple but exquisitely hand crafted and finished from figured hardwoods with an almost Danish or Japanese simplicity and attention to detail, made in a similar way almost that a fine custom ring is made. I don't have a photo of the ones I like here that a local gift shop sells, but many folks do this. I saw several neat things googling "handmade wood jewelry box" for instance. Of course in a way it seems silly to spend 50-100 bucks for a small wood ring box but it's a nice detail.

Here''s what I got... it''s temporary and not perfect, but is a big step up from the box I received from Leon. It''s very dark brown, with grey suede interior. Excuse the reflection of the pattern off my jeans.

Boston_Jeff, your box is nice. I was going to get something like yours, but then I told him that I would be getting a custom made box. Since, I used to do machining, I am now in the process of having a boxed machined. Just got the bottom part partially machined. Proposal deadline is June 8, so I running out of time. I will pose pics when the box is done.
