Hi everyone,

I am going to buy an engagement ring in Hong Kong soon.
My budget is around 5000 USD (~38,000 HKD).
I have never dealt with diamonds before.. So that's why I decided to ask for help on this forum.

Could you please tell me what kind of ring I can get for such money in Hong Kong?
Say, if I want to get a 0.6~0.7carat gem with excellent cut and white gold setting - what will the price be about?

If possible, could you also give me an idea of reputable jewellery stores there?

Thank you!

Chow Tai Fook, Chow Sang Sang are reputable. but because of the high rent, their pricing is very high nowadays.

Look for a GIA graded stone and then post the lab report here.

While not knowing how's HK's loose diamond prices compare to US, quite a few of my friends bought loose diamonds in US and have them set in HK. :)

Thank you for your replies.

Well, first, I cannot get stone or ring in USA or Canada due to some personal reasons; I need to buy it in Asia, so Hong Kong is the best choice, as I understand.

By the way, should I look for a laser inscription on the stone? Do all GIA graded stones have such inscription?

Where are you based?

South Korea.

The two chains that i suggested are safe bet. They are reputable and everything has a price tag so you won't have to worry about being cheated. Do expect price to be a lot more than buying online though it would still be cheaper than Tiffany. Diamonds smaller than a carat is usually sell as a ring. Settings are a lot cheaper here (~$600 for solitaire). Yes, ask to see the GIA certs which they would be happy to provide. They carry a lot of D IF stones which they would probably reommend. Dont be shy to ask for G/H/I VS/SI stones. Good luck.

Are you willing to go to Singapore? There is a highly reputable jeweler named Paul who deals with ideal cut stones.

In Hong Kong, you can try Bees Diamond.
