I would like to purchase a diamond, but I am wary of doing it over the Internet. I was wondering if any of you know any reputable dealers. Also I would like some feedback on your experience buying one online.

thanks,

tmart

Hi Tmart,

Just do a search and you'll find a list of vendors on this forum. GOG, Whiteflash, SuperbCert, USACertedDiamonds are just a few that come to mind. Many people have had very positive experiences with them.

I purchased my diamond from DBOF. Jan was very helpful.

Good luck!

There are many reputable dealers that can provide you with a quality diamond online. The education that you will receive as well as the selection, service, and not too mention price, is much better when buying a diamond online. So compare/contrast some of who you see represented here on Pricescope. Most do come highly recommended. Then simply make your decision based upon who you feel provides the best possible purchasing experience that you deserve. I myself do work for an online diamond company. However, I once back in March became the customer and made a purchase myself over the internet. Here is what I purchased. As you will see, it was a satisfying experience. Good luck and be well.

I bought my fiancee's engagement ring for a little over $3,700. Here is a description of what I purchased. This was back in March.

Three stone princess cut platinum setting.
Center stone - .71ct
Sidestones - .27ct each
Total carat weight - 1.25

Center stone
Measurements-5.06x4.86x3.49mm
.71ct
GIA graded
Depth-71.8%
Table-69%
Girdle-Medium to Slightly Thick
Culet-NONE
Polish-Excellent
Symmetry-Very GOOD
Clarity-VVS2
Color-D
Fluorescence-NONE
Comments-NONE
Key To Symbols-ClOUD

Sidestones were .54cttw non-certified D-E, VVS1-VVS2.

I paid a little over $3,700 total for all three stones as well as the platinum ring design. I don't know much about how diamonds should be appraised or even what the appropriate value would be according to the selling price. However, my engagement ring appraised for $7,750. So I wasn't complaining. I tried to copy and paste a picture of the ring design so that you could see the finalized outcome. However, I was unsuccessful in my attempt. So unfortunately you all won't be able to see a picture of the ring. I wish that I could have shown you, because it's beautiful.

Hi Tmart!

I personally bought my diamond from White Flash. The folks there are super!

Check out the different Vendors on Price Scope. Check out their return, refund, upgrade policies. Search past Forum threads and see what others have said about their experiences. Chat with a few and see who you are comfortable with. The PS Vendors do biz in a fish bowl. They work hard to make each person happy with his or her purchase. They know if you aren't happy, the entire Forum will know! LOLOL

As PQC said, we all do business in a fish bowl here on PS! You really can't go wrong with any of us, but it still serves to do your due diligence and check everything out... Read the tutorials here on PS and on the individual sites, compare quality and prices... Read the various testimonials written by clients who have walked the on-line path before you, most of us use independent third party rating services to monitor our track record. Check with The Jewelers Vigilance Committee http://www.jvclegal.org to make sure that none of us have any complaints against us for past transactions... Note that a lot of the dealers here on PS drop ship the merchandise that they sell direct from their suppliers, a few of us don't... You should ask for and expect to receive detailed clarity photographs for any of the diamonds that you are considering, how else can you know what to expect when you finally get to see the diamond you purchase through a loupe? Read the return policies! They are your ultimate protection and insurance for any transaction! Consider having the diamond sent to an independent GIA Graduate Gemologist prior to paying for it, this adds a neutral third party to the transaction who will act as a middleman between you and the seller... The seller sends the diamond to the appraiser who acts on your behalf to determine whether the diamond has been accurately graded and whether it has good visual performance and then you pay for the diamond 'after' the evaluation and before the diamond is forwarded on to you... Good luck and have fun!
