Just reading your post. Your ring is GORGEOUS! You think your ring may be a tad shallow... well, mine is a tad deep lol! I do think there IS some truth to the GIA position that there are many combinations of proportions that can create a beautiful diamond. Congratulations on your engagement!

If you go to any specialist forum, people get super nitpicky about things.

Go to a fountain pen forum and you'll feel bad for using normal pens. Go to a mechanical keyboard forum and you'll feel like a dunce for ever thinking the Macbook Pro has a nice keyboard. Etc. Pretty much anything you can think of has an "enthusiast community" that is ready to tell you everything you own and like could be better because of X specification.

Don't take it too seriously. Most diamonds out there are beautiful. That's why people like them. They don't need to be in the top 0.01% of cut proportions to be beautiful.
