Trying to decide between two stones (PR cut). They both look good on paper but not sure to go with better color (F VS2 by GIA for $6490/ct) or better clarity (G VS1 by EGL for $6830/ct). The cuts are almost equal in proportion.
Thanks in advance,

I'd go with #1 because it is GIA graded and cheaper :)

Thanks for the input. I was always told to buy better color.

I have an F/VS2. I always opt for COLOR.

I can see the inclusions from the side with my eye. Should I send it back?

It is graded at VS2. I realize that this is done from the top of the table but if that is the case then one should be able to see inclusions from the sides on all VS1-2 diamonds?
Seems strange.

K, from the sides it's like you're looking through a window pane into the diamond. Inclusions which can't be seen from the top can often easily be seen from the side.

Diamonds are graded from a "face up" view, looking down at the top.

So, at what grade would not be able to see inclusions from the top or side? I realize that the position of the inclusions is also a factor (i.e. if they can be hidden by the setting or in the corners).

To be guaranteed not to see inclusions from the side, you'd probably have to go VS1 or better.
