Butterflies.

I couldn’t get @soxfan Whiteflash Butterflies out of my mind. The moment I saw it, I knew. Then, I read up on @yssie threads.

Later, I thought. Let’s just do it later. You just upgraded and had to have a setting made. So — later.

Quaratine-brain: let’s just take a look at inventory and see what’s what as far as side stones go. Oh, these two look perfect. Oh no. They are perfect.

Reasonable-me: don’t be silly. You just upgraded. We’re in a pandemic; things are crazy. We don’t know what the future holds.

Actual-me: whatever. Life is short. This feels right. LETS DO IT.

Reasonable-me: K.

The toughest part (besides the wait), was choosing the proportions. I ultimately went with side stones about half the diameter of the center stone; but was toying with even smaller like 0.35ct or just around 4mm but didn’t want them too small so as to look more like “just” accent stones. I’m still not sure if I made the right choice.

Center stone is a 2.584 WF ACA I-color VVS2. It measures: 8.88 x 8.96 x 5.39.

Side stones are 0.402 and 0.405 I-color. One is VS1 and the other is VS2. 0.402 measures: 4.71 x 4.73 x 2.92. 0.405 measures: 4.73 x 4.76 x 2.93.

Here is a group shot before mounting. Hope to have it on my hand soon and then I will be done. Hopefully forever. Lots of hoping going on here today.

Did I make the right choice y’all?

Well...I say you did, but I am of course biased! You will love this ring. It's so pretty from any view. I think your proportions should be close to @soxfan 's beautiful ring? My sides are .403s, but I have a 2.26 center. You can see how mine looks slightly different than what y'all have.

ETA: I had the same concern you did about the stones being so small that they read as accents, but after living with the .4s, I think the .3s pair that I had considered would have been more than enough to get the three stone look I wanted.

When WF sent pics of the completed ring, I noticed the main stone wasn’t sitting straight in the basket. Their production team agreed.

I am very happy with the proportions though. Here are those pics in case anyone wants to take a look.

Are you sure? It looks like the angle to me? I had the same concerns about sides. It was perfect when they took different photos and when I got it I loved it.

Yeah! I love my center stone. It feels very me and it’s a real fireball. This just adds a little something extra!

Are you sure? It looks like the angle to me? I had the same concerns about sides. It was perfect when they took different photos and when I got it I loved it.

I’m fairly certain. I posed the same question to WF, letting them know that it could just be the angle and asked them to double check. I asked for more detailed photos as well.

Upon checking, they must have seen the same thing since they let me know they will need extra time to do the recast, etc. I don’t think they would have done a recast with a new mould if it were fine or able to be fixed.

It’s a waiting game now, which I’m fine with, just want to to be done right. I have a feeling it will be worth it!

Congrats, the new ring is going to be gorgeous! I had the same fight with myself too as I’ve always loved a 3 stone & that setting specifically. The greedy girl who loves size on the one side won’t let the rational girl on the other side do it.

If I ever go for a reset, I’m probably going with this style with rounds

Hey all. IT. IS. HERE!

Here are some pics from WF... I’m working on a set as we type but wanted to share.

The first rendition of Butterflies had an issue. Not sure if it was with the casting or CAD or what, but upon seeing initial photos, I could tell the center stone was not set straight into the basket. After I voiced my concerns to Vera and her production team, it was deemed by their master jeweler a recast was needed. Long, anxious days passed... and then... perfection.
