Good Morning!

I've been browsing and learning from PS for the past couple week and finally decided to post. I'm in the market for a round brilliant diamond around 1.4 carats and min G color and VS2 clarity.

I stumbled across this 1.66 carat diamond during my search that fits within my price range.

It rates as a 2.3 on HCA and has excellent cut, polish, and symmetry according the GIA report. Is there anything I should watch out for on this diamond. From the video, there are several inclusion that seem to detract from the diamond, but I assume it should be eye clean given the VS2 grade.

I look forward to your thoughts. Thanks.

Request an idealscope image from JA. Ask them if the strong Flour has any effect on the the stone (it's rare so probably not
likely to have an effect).

You can double check with JA to make sure it's eye-clean just to make sure.

Looks good.
Agreed.

I am wondering what's that white speck on the start facet at 11:30 o'clock?
Doesn't see it noted on the report.
A small chip?

I think it's a feather. I think the mark for it may be right on a facet line so it is difficult to see...not helping that I have bad
eye sight either!

According to JA, an idealscope is not available for this diamond because is not located in NY.

Another little wrinkle, the diamond is currently shown as "not available" on JA, but is still available for sale on another website. Is it worth taking the risk to purchase this diamond without the idealscope or aset images, given its excellent GIA ratings? It seems to be a very good value for its size.

If the other vendor has a solid return policy that will help to mitigate the risk if the price is good.

James Allen is owned by a diamond supplier, so you will find their diamonds listed on other sites. If it says it is not available on JA, then it probably will not be available on the other site either unless it shows the diamond in-house.

I would not purchase a diamond without an idealscope or ASET image unless there were no other options. It is a little safer when the HCA score is below 2, but I wouldn't buy one with a score over 2 without one. The GIA Excellent range is very broad and that is why we try to narrow down the ones that are better cut.
