Sorry, if I'm duplicating this post. Earlier tonight, I posted to this list, but I don't see that it showed up.
Anyway, the gemologist told his today that the middle stone is an emerald (he thinks Russian). The green stones surrounding the emerald are Demadoids(sp?), based on what he says are horsetails in the stones. The pink stones are pink sapphires. The white stones are diamonds. He can't identify the very pale gree stones down the middle or on the sides. At first he thought they were Zircons, but then said he'd never seen a color such as that. He next thought they were Sphene, but then again never saw a color like that. He did say that were double refracting - whatever that means. Gemologist said they were all very old stones.
The piece is about 3 inches long and probablm 2.5 inches wide.
I affectionately call it the "dog show pin" because I wore it to a dog show ... thinking it was constume jewelry.
I don't konw squat about jewelry, but this thing looks Russian to me. By the way, if you can't tell from the pictures, it can either be worn as a pin or a necklace.
Any ideas what the very pale green stones might be down the middle and sides.
Thanks.
