My original engagement diamond needed a fresher setting than the standard three stone it was in for 12 years. I wanted to showcase my diamond without overwhelming it with alot of metal and prongs. After reading many threads here, including the BE/ERD thread, I decide to contact Chris of Brilliantly Engaged for a quote on a few solitaire settings. He responded right away and I can say the quote was very reasonable. With his suggestions, I decided on the Carla solitaire in platinum. It is a four prong floating basket with small cathedral arms. The shank is 1.75mm and will allow a flush fit with a wedding band (which I still need to look for). They were able to scale the design very well to accommodate my smaller stone. My diamond is a .50 E VS 2, my original engagement stone. No GIA cut grading as they did not grade cut in 2002, but Mark and Chris agreed the cut was excellent. :D

Chris had CADs to me within two weeks, and I got the email that it will be delivered tomorrow! I can share the CADs and the quick snapshots Chris just sent over to me. I cannot wait to get it on my finger.

very elegant and beautiful. Enjoy

Gorgeous! That is really my favorite solitaire setting ever... so graceful with the cathedral shoulders, and BE's tiny claw prongs are so finely crafted; just the perfect showcase for a diamond. Yay for you and your re-set!

Oh that is really beautiful!!! :appl:

LOVELY. just lovely. CAn't wait for handshots.

Really nice & clean! Also looking forward to handshots!

Very pretty! I love the way it looks like it's just floating...what kind of wedding band do you plan on pairing with it?

I don't know what your budget is but a small u prong eternity (3/4
Eternity) would be really pretty. You might just start with the matching gold band (same width) then work on some different stackers from there.

I don't really have a budget right now for anything elaborate. I'd have to find a pre-loved on ebay or LT/DB to get anything with diamonds in it. I do eventually want a diamond band in a similar width (1.75-2mm). I would love to find a platinum band 1.5-1.8 to go with it for now. I have a some temp bands to try with it when I pick it up later today.

I've been looking at ebay/etsy/LT/DB for thin bezel or channel set bands. I might get a sim. to try out some styles. If anyone has any band ideas under $1000 (the lower the better), I'm all ears...

What finger size for the band?

My ring size is 7.5, but I can wear anywhere from a 7 in a thin band up to an 8.

When you are ready you should talk to Yuketiel at IDJ. I think
They can probably do a lot with $1k.

So gorgeous. I love this setting. Very elegant.

Beautiful ring!!! I am in-process of doing the same thing...going from a 3-stone to a solitaire and also by BE!! I totally get what you mean by having the center stone be the star! Look forward to seeing handshots when you get the ring!

Can't wait to see your ring, too! I loved working with BE. I can't recommend them enough. It is killing me to wait until 4 to pick up my ring.. tick, tock, tick, tock...

Beautiful reset! Chris and Mark are fantastic to work with.

I'm back! I love it so much! The proportions are so perfect. They make my stone really pop! It looks so much bigger than it did in the three stone. I've never seen my diamond shine like this. :appl: :appl: :appl: Yay, yay, yay!

My new ring crush! I love this!

So adorably sweet and classic - congratulations on a great purchase!

lovely!

Love it! They did a great job, looks perfect!!

Thank you everyone! I really love my new ring. I absolutely love the delicate proportions. I wanted to have an understated ring for everyday wear. I always knew my diamond was great quality, but I was so naive and lovestruck when we shopped for rings i actually put zero thought into my original setting. Ten years of hating my old setting, and now I am happy with how it turned out.

The prongs are so tiny, I can barely see them with my naked eyes!

I also ordered a 1.5mm platinum band from e wedding bands to wear until the right diamond band comes along.

wow, it looks great! It's amazing how a re-set changes the entire 'feel" of the stone. In this case I feel like it made your center stone "pop" so much more, and it can really shine. I love the classic "floating" setting you chose, and it looks great on your hand!
