Hi Rissalou,

Pretty pics! What kind of stone is the 3ct stone?
It''s a genuine natural diamond per Christine (soon to be sister-in-law) and my soon to be brother-in-law, they stayed the weekend for their''s and my soon to be hubby''s Grandfathers b-day and I just had to get some shots of it!

Very pretty, I really like your RHR too

That is one of the prettiest RHR''s I''ve ever seen! I adore it.

The 3 ct ring isn''t half bad either.

Hey Rissalou - I have hesitated whether to ask this, so pls don''t think me rude - but is Christine 100% sure this is a diamond? Its possible it is just the pics, but I''m afraid not much about the stone looks like a diamond (the transparency, not much refraction etc)..
I''m sorry to have to say, but I fear it is another type of gem...do you think Christine would know this?

Please don''t anyone throw rocks, thanks...

I was thinking the same thing, but it is pretty none the less! Could it be a white sapph?

And Rissa, I do love the RHR! I am looking for something nice and dainty to wear on my right hand but I can''t find anything that sparks my interest yet! So do tell where you found it, if you don''t mind!

No worries, I''m not mad at all. Honestly I''m not too experienced with all of this. Do you really think it''s not? Ever since they got engaged (3 months ago) I''ve felt kind of inferior, my engagement ring is .44 ct. center stone. (I attached a pic.) Is it mean for me to be kind of smiling right now?

No problem, I''m afraid it might not help you too much though, I got it from an antique shop close to where I live in Golden, CO. The shop hosts a bunch of private sellers so I''m not sure if it''s even a real antique, I just loved it when I saw it and the price was right.

Rissa, I am almost 100% sure it is not a diamond - it is maybe a morganite, or white sapphire or maybe white quartz (this is some info I got from another mbr, as I''m by no means a pro).
You should not be able to see all the way through the table (top of the stone) like in some of your pics if it were diamond, and it just seems to be lacking in any ...sparkle, yanno?

I would not feel inferior if I were you for sure - but all of that said, I would be very careful if I was going to broach the subject with her..

I don''t think I''ll EVER have the guts to say anything, I wouldn''t have even said anything if I thought she might see this website, but she doesn''t ever go online, she doesn''t even have e-mail. I feel kind of sad, I wonder if my soon to be brother in law knows? Do people "get taken for ride" so to speak very often? Or maybe she knows and trys to pass it off as real, I sure wouldn''t have known... sorry I ramble when I get emotional

RL, OMG I just LOVE that ring. Love love love love. Love!!!

A shame about your FSILs ring... although if it makes you smile, haha! ;) Before anyone said anything, I wondered as well, but wasn''t game to say anything coz I don''t really know much!

You''re welcome, although I''m sorry had to be a bearer of bad news - of course there is always a chance I am wrong, pictures are deceiving sometimes.

As to whether they know, it is impossible to say without knowing more (where its from, what they paid, what the "specs" are suppoed to be on it etc). Of course I am by no means asking you to tell us these things, lol !
However, a 3ct diamond of any kind of quality costs alot, so I would find it difficult to believe the guy didn''t know it wasn''t diamond he was buying...of course it is also possible he could''ve been taken - do you know what type of store they bought if from?

I am sorry, I didn''t want to make you emotional

I *LOVE* your right hand ring! It is so dainty and sparkly! I agree with the others though about not being sure that it''s a diamond. I was thinking white sapphire maybe.

For what it's worth, I prefer yours (regardless of the truth behind FSIL's rock)

Your setting is much prettier and looks like higher quality. Wear it with pride!!

I should have said, "I agree with the others though about your SIL''s ring about not being sure...." I accidentally left out the part saying SIL''s ring and didn''t want you to think that I meant your ring. Your RHR is beautiful!

No, I don't think it's the photograph. Looking at that picture, the first thing that popped into my head is that doesn't look like a real diamond. All of us have seen tons of diamond pictures (I've been here 5+ years) and also tons of colorstones and that stone looks like a very pale gemstone NOT a diamond.

What does the guy do for a living? Any indication he could have afforded a 3 ct diamond?

First of all, I LOVE both of your rings, congrats!

Regarding your SIL''s ring, it looks to me like a white quartz or white sapphire. Don''t at all feel like your ring is inferior - it''s gorgeous. I have a friend who''s ering is a 4 ct CZ, but it''s in a WG and diamond setting. It''s big & showy, and whenever we''re out together people gape at her "huge diamond," but she passes it off as real & doesn''t tell anyone it''s not. At first I felt a little jealous of all the attention her ring gets, but honestly I''d rather wear a smaller diamond that I know is real and valuable than a large fake. I actually think other gemstones and man-made stones can be great in other jewelry, or even as an ering, but I just would never try to pass off a stone as a diamond that was not ...

Hey Rissa--your ring is darling! Do you have a full hand shot with it on? It's lovely!

I too do not think your friend's ring is a diamond. To me it looks like colorless topaz.
I'm thinking she doesn't know it's not a diamond.

(the melee also do not look like diamond)

Thanks everybody for your feedback! I''m glad I put Christine''s pics. up, b/c now that I know the most likely truth about her ring, I love mine even more even if it is small. I kind of feel guilty for feeling smug but you all should have seen the way she pranced around with that thing. I''m so happy I found this sight
36.gif
Anywho coatimundi had asked for a hand shot of mine so here it is.... Thanks again everyone you''re all so nice and honest I love it!
