Bride to be in LOVE with a Helzberg Diamond Masterpiece

First congratulations on your upcoming engagement!

Second-thank you SO much for going with GOG vs the helzberg one. Once you see the quality in this ring (and your wife to be compares it to the helzberg one) you'll feel like you dodged a major bullet. Not only for getting a much higher quality ring (with a 70% buy back policy on the diamond to-heaven forbid you ever need to sell it in the future and a great upgrade policy) but you also saved almost 50% of the cost. I try to explain that to those who I find out are in the market for a ring but they'd rather have the convince of the store than pay less for a higher quality product and deal with buying it and having it shipped.

Please come back with shots of the ring and hand shots after the proposal. I'm sure she's going to be SO surprised that you went and did this before the holiday and came back with not only one beautiful ring-but you did your due diligence-saved money AND picked out the prefect stone and setting JUST for her. As a woman I love the fact when a guy puts it all together himself vs going to the mall and picking out one that he likes (whatever works for the couple though-to each their own!). It just takes it to that next level of special-made JUST for her!

Just an idea-do you have anything cute you could engrave inside of the ring? Like your proposal date or the initials of you and the kids or something else that is meaningful (like the date you met and then when you get married add your wedding date?).

I'm just throwing out ideas :) I can't wait to see the final product and hear about the proposal! I've bought 2 stones from GOG and they were wonderful to work with.

Congratulations again :appl: :appl:

ETA: just took a look at the diamond and WOW you both are going to be STUNNED after looking at stones at the mall stores when you see this baby. It's going to blow everything you've viewed away. I can't wait to see it on her hand!

I'm so excited :appl: The inspiration for my ring was actually a helzberg masterpiece ring, and I love it so much more than the original. I love a bargain without skimping on quality

This is going to be a gorgeous ring AND a really sweet proposal!!! I am a repeat buyer with GOG and I have been able to actually go meet everyone, and Jon is a class act and more. He's amazing, as are the rest of the GOG folks, and they really make it easy and comfortable. They won't push you into something you cannot afford or do not love. They want you educated and satisfied, not to make a sale. I personally prefer this setting at GOG to the Helzberg one, it looks nicer, of better make all around, and will be unique.

Ok everybody, it's a lock. I'll keep you posted. SO EXCITED!!!!

Whenever I see my lady I just think about how she has no idea what is coming her way

I've been following this story. Can't wait to see the final outcome! :appl:

I LOVE the setting you chose...and that stone....TO DIE FOR!!!! You made such a wise decision!!!!

Best of luck with your proposal, and please come back with the story and some pics for us!!!! :appl: :appl: :appl:

I promise I will. Last night she was watching one of those wedding shows and asked if I minded that she look at dress pics on the internet. she is scared to put pressure on me, it's cute. She asks me, are you sure you don't mind me looking, I have no expectations and no pressure. She has no idea it's coming this month, knowing her, she thinks the engagement would probably come some time later next year. It's really going to blow her away.

Perfect!!!~ Mine was a surprise too - forgot to say YES for a couple minutes I was so shocked!

I'm debating on doing it Christmas eve before we put the kids down for bed or waiting till Christmas morning when we open gifts with the kids. I'm leaning towards Christmas morning because the kids will be awake and rested. We will be driving an hour home christmas eve from my family's house and it will be late and the kids will either by overtired or passed out. I think it's ideal because we will be going to my parents Christmas Day in the afternoon and spending the night without the kids Christmas Day evening. That should be a really great night day of proposal. Going to have to wait to get our alone time that night. Should be interesting, lol

Christmas morning sounds lovely. Maybe you can wrap up the ring and put it under the tree :)

I would also wait until Christmas morning. That will put her on a high all day :)

Wrap it and have the kids give it to her

MikeyPalmice, I am sooo excited for you and I can't wait to see the handshots and hear what you think and your girl thinks. Congratulations in advance! I am so glad you went with the GOG stone. You got a wonderful deal on a much higher quality stone. I am sure you will BOTH love it. Soooo happy for you!

Christmas day would be wonderful! It will be her best christmas ever! I would let the kids open all their gifts and give her the ring last!
Otherwise, she won't remember another thing about the day!

Ran into a an issue. The original setting will not fit that diamond the proper way. They are going to look for other settings, but it might end up costing more money. I should find out some options tomorrow. I'll keep everybody posted

We'll be waiting for updates - it will all work out!

They have SO many setting options that I am sure they can find something else that will be just as good! Let us know!

Cheers, man! I'm in the exact same boat. It's so cute and wondeful when they light up whenever passing engagement ring displays in the mall but insist they're "just looking" and that they want to make sure there's "no pressure" on us. It's such a well-meaning consideration to show they care about us and don't want to scare us away, and that makes it all the more exciting when we're actually up to something and they have no idea! :naughty: The hardest part is keeping a dead straight face whenever they get blasted with the holiday themed "It's time to buy an engagement ring!" ads on TV & radio this time of year, or not glowing with a tell-tale grin whenever a movie or ad features a romantic proposal. Be strong, and good luck with that ring!

I almost think doing it before all the Christmas EVE festivities so you can announce to both families? I dunno. I don't think you can lose!

Good luck to you Monkey!!! It's going to be a December to remember, without the Lexus of course. When are you making your move?

I was kind of thinking that too, but i'm still leaning towards the Christmas morning deal. More meaning being our first real Christmas together as a family. Last two years she spent it in Florida, this year she wanted to spend it as a family and start a new tradition. I want to reward her for her decision, lol

You know, I'm going to have to go with Ame on that one. A girl REALLY wants to show off her new ring to family and closest friends (and share the excitement of being officially engaged, of course!), so I really think it would be good to do the proposal before you visit her family on Christmas Eve..or maybe while you're there!

Okay, just reread...are you going to be with your family both days and not hers? If so, then wait until Christmas morning. I was thinking you meant you'd be with both families.
