Hello everyone!!

I''m not sure if anyone has done this, I''ve looked through the board and haven''t found this question. I finally found two seetings I love and it''s either gonna be a HOF felicity or a HOF envelop twist. They are gorgous!!! I''m still having a hard time deciding between the two. But my question is regarding the center stone. I''ve been quoted some prices and they are extremely high (premiums I know!!) So I am wondering if I can get the center stone from Brian Gavin (1-1.25 carats). Will Brian set the stone and how will that affect
my HOF warranty? I don''t think HOF will set the stone. The BM might. Do you think that''s a good idea? Or should I just get a lower color and carat and just get a HOF?

I think you would need to ask both parties involved, if the HoF dealer would sell the setting separately and if so, ask Brian if he could set it for you.

If my memory serves me correctly, I think when I was looking at HOF settings and diamonds, I was told that you could buy a HOF diamond by itself but, could not purchase a HOF setting by itself. You would have to buy the setting with a HOF diamond. You might want to double check though in case I am wrong.

I went to the HOF store in the borgata and the sale associate said they can sell the setting alone. They just won''t set the diamond. I don''t think u can buy the loose diamond alone either. I just sent him an email so we will see.

Anyone know anything about the HOF warranty?

And if u buy a branded setting with a different stone does it "weaken" the warranty because the center stone is not the same brand?

it might be best to contact a HOF dealers about the warranty of their setting if they do not set the stone in it, Usually a couple of other companies that I have inquired from has stated that the warranty would be voided if you have someone other than them set the stone or Work on in their setting. HOF could be a different animal though.

love the twist look, I''m sure Brian would do it justice to replicate something this for you, but again, its'' your call. I would not hesitate to have Brian make me this or any ring.

I believe both Sundial and Star17 had Whiteflash set their ACA's into an HOF setting.

I don't have time to look up Sundial's thread for you but here is Star17's : https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/pics-of-my-ring.75574/

So it appears it CAN be done!
Sundial's center stone is a HOF. My first upgrade was an ACA, which was set in a HOF semimount. It was my second upgrade that was a HOF diamond. My jeweler said something about HOF planning to restrict their settings to HOF stones, but I'm not sure if this has happened yet. You can buy a loose HOF diamond and have it set in whatever semimount you like. Best to speak with your jeweler. As far as your settings, I think I like the split shank a bit better, but they are both very pretty settings. It's interesting that the settings are the opposite of each other regarding where the split is in the shank

I believe that HOF prefers that their settings are sold only with HOF center stones, but know for a fact that a client we've been chatting with recently acquired a HOF setting without the center stone, so it appears to be possible. I'm guessing that you need to find a HOF jeweler who is sitting on a bit of inventory and is looking to raise a little capital outside the prying eyes of the HOF establishment

Odds of getting HOF to set a non HOF diamond in one of their settings... If I were a betting man, I'd say a million to one (we used to be one of their dealers...)

RisingSun: I love them each for different reasons. The split shank because it''s timeless and so classic. And the twist setting because it''s so different and unique. Decisions, decisions!

The BM jeweler I spoke with did say we can get a non-hof diamond on a hof setting so that is not a problem. The only issue I am having is that I''m sure the BM jewelers'' diamond will be really pricey and not as nice. I wanted to buy the diamond from Brian Gavin because I just fell in love with his cut (which is why I love hof!). So at this point I''m not sure if I should get the diamond first or get the setting first. If I get the diamond first, is the BM jeweler going to mount it for me? If I get the setting first, will Brian mount it and will the warranty still be vaild at the BM jeweler where I plan to buy the setting?

As for the warranty, the jeweler said they will only be able to warranty the setting, which is reasonable!

Can the jeweler and HOF warranty your setting regardless of who sets the diamond? HOF has authorized my jeweler to set stones into their semimounts without voiding the warranty. That's what I would want to find out next. Please let me know what your jeweler tells you. Regarding the diamond, if you are not getting the HOF stone--which I can understand!!--I would not hesitate to go with Brian Gavin. I bought my ACA from him when he was still at WF. It was a beauty. I traded it in on my HOF diamond and got a fantastic trade-in price

ETA: You should get your diamond first so the setting can be made to fit your stone. You will need to ask your B&M if he would be willing to set the diamond. If you would like to have Brian set it, you need to check the warranty from your jeweler and HOF. Then you or your jeweler would send the setting to Brian. Hope I was finally clear!! I just reread your question!

I would just show pictures of the setting you like to Brian and he can make something like it (only better). He has made an incredible ring for me as well as earrings. I have jewelers comment constantly on the quality of my setting. I''m sure his price will be more reasonable that HOF also.

Ditto. I am betting he''s make a gorgeous setting, you can put your own twist on it making it your own. You''ll save a lot this way and end up with a killer ring...

Do you think the jeweler would set a diamond not from them, if I buy the setting from them?
