Brian Gavin CAD and proposed modification suggestions

I am getting the ring of my dreams made by BG, and just received the CAD (ring size 7.5, 0.94 ct center BG Black emerald cut) I am very pleased with the proposed design. The only changes I am requesting are:
1. taper from 2.5 mm wide at the top of the shank (current) to 2 mm at the base (rather than 1. for additional band strength
2. I would also like to have the height (inner diameter to outer) be a consistent 1.7 mm all the way around starting past the U prongs
3. I am good with a very slight rounding on the outer surface of the band, but I think I would prefer less rounding than the CAD shows. I’ve also included a picture of roughly what I was visualizing regarding the “squareness” (yellow diamond ring)

I welcome all thoughts and feedback on what you see here as well as my proposed changes!

The center is GIA G VS1 0.94, AGS ideal cut (from Brian’s new Black EC line). The other stones are 0.51 x 2 EC, 0.21 x 2 EC, 0.14 x 2 asscher cut G VS.

Where does the inspiration for the tapered step Cuts come from? Is this something you’ve always dreamed of, or was there something new that inspired your idea? I love step cuts, and I’m always interested in learning from others, esp when they share a love of step Cuts!!!

And then at Zales, I randomly tried on an overpriced lower quality three EC with baguette tapered sides ring and thought that was stunning. I looked around a bunch more but kept coming back to that endless hall of mirrors look. So I decided to ramp it up to ALL THE STONES and make it 7. Because more is more . In general though I adore those big flashes of step cuts and how they look more understated at the same time. And the setting I wanted to be a open as possible to see all the pretties in almost 360 degrees.

His emerald cuts are really really exceptional. It sparkles and glitters and flashes way more than I even expected.
