Brellia grading? Who does it? GIA or AGS or both?

I was under the impression that only AGS grades Brellia diamonds and that Brellia is patended. Is this true? AGS laser inscripts Brellia and # on the diamond itself. So can a GIA graded hearts and diamond cushion be called a Brellia? Or are these actual Brellia diamonds from Antwerp being graded by GIA and AGS? Their website seems to state only AGS grades their diamonds.

I am in the market for one and have seen a few on GOG that are GIA rated. Also, will it affect the resale value if its not laser inscribed "Brellia"? My initial guess would be yes it would.

My guess is that very few people have ever heard of the brand Brellia, so it would probably not affect resale very much at all. The quality of the stone will dictate the resale price. But are you considering buying a diamond that you plan to resell??

In any event, you need to ask Good Old Gold about the diamonds they have designated as Brellia and whether they are all branded stones.

ask Jonathon of Good old gold directly. he should be able to give concise answers to your queries.

I do not plan on selling it but if I ever wanted to I would like to know that the resale value is there. Second hand Brellia's definitely hold their value better from the limited research that I have done.

Brellia's hold their value compared to what though? Other diamonds or other branded cuts? Diamonds aren't like cars, they don't continually depreciate. The moment you buy a diamond 'new' and try to sell it second-hand, it will have lost value regardless of brand/non-branded.

Compared to similar spec cushions. Granted their is a premium but its small IMO compared to the quality you are getting. I think value holds( or declines less) primarily because of the rarity of a Brellia which more than offsets the premium. In any case, diamond talk as an investment commodity is pointless.

To summarize, I do not want to pay Brellia premium if I am not getting a Brellia.

To me, a square hearts and arrows stone is a rare and desirable stone. I do not think the label Brellia will matter if another stone is cut exactly the same and was not cut by the brand Brellia. Just like their are mutiple cutters of round hearts and arrows stones.

Bottom line, if you want a diamond cut by the Brellia company, all you have to do is ask for Jonathan at GOG and tell him you only want to see stones cut by Brellia and have the inscription. Easy! He can probably access others not listed on the site as well.

Had a very pleasant conversation with Jonathon, great guy BTW. Looks like Brellia sends their diamonds to get graded by both AGS and GIA. Looks like I found my diamond!
