Hello

I went for the 1.75 JVS2 H and A at GOG. I cant wait to see it but im concerned about the J color. Ive seen an H color EGL LA cert which didnt bother me so i hope its not more apparent than that. We shall see.....im crossing my fingers.

Do you have a link for the stone? I'd love to see it! Yummy size.

Looks awesome! I got my I color in from GOG a couple weeks back, and it looks great color-wise. That is one nice stone.

I''m sure the stone will be beautiful and you''ll love it. Personally, when I took my fiance to be to a local jeweler to look at color, we found I color to be the lowest we could go when viewing the stone from the side in a tension setting. Of course, every stone is different. My recommendation is to keep the stone in the tension setting and view the diamond from every possible angle and different lighting situations (indoor, outdoor, flourescent lighting, etc.) and see if the color bothers you at all. Really give it some time. If it doesn''t, great, you''ll have a large stone for a great price. My $.02.

Hey Joe,

I went to check out some diamonds and in an EGLCert i didnt mind an H but when you jumped to an I EGL it was way too tinted. Im hoping the J AGS will be close to an EGL H. If it is then im a happy camper.

Earlier this year I purchased a 1.73 SI1 J AGS0 H&A from GOG. My previous stone was an "I" and I could not detect any difference between the color of the two stones, even with the side view.

I''m sure you will love it!!!

Beautiful stone, congrats on your purchase!!! The color will probably be fine, but if not GOG has great policies to help return or trade in to whatever you want.

Impatienone, i like your setting in the pic. Can you tell me what you have going on there? specs style ctw etc

A well cut I colour stone will face up quite nicely. You won't have to worry about the colour IMO. Can't wait to see pics!!

ETA - Wooops!! Should have typed J colour! An I colour would be ok too though

Because EGL certification is said to be looser than AGS, the EGL H you were looking at may have actually gotten a grade of I or J by AGS.

Your diamond looks beautiful to me...nice choice. Congrats!

Where did you buy your diamond? GOG

As an owner of a *much smaller* AGS J stone, I think you will be very very pleased with the color (or lack thereof) of your stunner of a stone! Can''t wait to see it!

That''s an awesome size, and I''m also curious about the color. Can''t wait to see photos!

It certainly is a stunner in the photo. Congrats on your purchase

Yes, my stone is from GOG!

Hello Impatientone

I received the ring today in pincher or whatever its called, its not set yet. I must say the diamond is gorgous!!! I do notice the warmth in certain lighting but it blows my mind out in the sun. Now i understand the saying "mind clean vs eye clean" Most people will never notice the slight warmth but im trying to decide yes or no on keeping it. I think im being a little to picky. Im going to show a few people and see what they say. I wanted to get your thoughts on how it looks once its set next with other diamonds in the facets setting, does the warmth become less noticable? What are thoughts on 6 prong vs 4 prong setting?

Also, is there anywhere i can go to see a facets setting in person. I live on the west coast

Many think that stones look whiter after being set in WG or platinum, but I don''t really see much of a difference in warmth to me. However, if you cover up the side of the stone in a setting that might help since you are covering up the warmest part of the stone.

I think it really all boils down to the "mind clean" thing you are talking about. I would go with your gut and think about whether the color would bug you or whether you could accept/love it. Nobody else is ever going to think it''s anything, but a white and beautiful (and big) diamond!!!!

Also, make sure you see the warmth in diffused lighting, like outside. Inside it could be picking up color from a variety of things, including cream walls, and indoor lighting which tends to give off yellowish light.

I live on the west coast too, so was unable to see the Facets set prior to purchasing. I know what you mean about looking at the J in the temp setting and seeing a little tinge of color in certain lighting and at certain angles! I went through that, too.

I was really concerned that the J center stone would not look good in the setting as the Facets set contains F-G colored stones. Once I got the stone set, though, all my worries disappeared! The J stone looks absolutely gorgeous in my setting and I have NO regrets whatsoever! It looks even better set than it did by itself

People do not believe me when I tell them it's a J!!!

Oh, and as for 4 vs 6 prongs, it's personal preference. I personally like 4 prongs as I can see more of the diamond!

Wow GOG even have a video on this diamond...Nice

Exactly. I purchased some J diamonds for earrings, and compared them in a number of lighting situations with my F diamond ring stone. Just about every time I thought I saw some warmth in the Js, the color was present in my F as well. So, most of the time the color you are seeing is environmental.

Once the Js were set, it was darn near impossible to see the warmth from the side. I would recommend 6 prongs if you still concerned, because it will help to obscure the side view a bit more. But, it is really personal preference. Take a look at some settings in person and see which you prefer.

Thanks to kticern and Alj, I have had the experience of seeing a variety of GIA and AGS graded Js and even a K or so in various sizes. I had them next to an I and an H. Maybe it was me, but it was almost impossible to tell the dif in color even from the side. They were all set, and I think it makes it harder to tell even with an open side on a white napkin in good lighting in a restaurant or two.

Believe me, we looked and tried our best.

My mom came by yesterday to check the diamond out and said it looked tinted in the first 5 minutes. Unbelievable! I think it was the cream stucko in the sun though cause it did look really yellow. What to do although i love the diamond. My only other option would be go down in carat or give up ideal cut and im not willing to do either of those. OH the madness, im racking my brain.

Im thinking ritani endless or excell nova rep for a setting. Id like to get it set asap to see how it looks
