Another quick question...So I bought the diamond. The ring is being made. How do I know that the jeweler did not swap a diamond for the one I think I bought...Is there any way to check up on this? I have the GIA Cetification.
I cannot really comment on your other post, as I don''t know too much about radiants...but knowing that you''ve bought an H VS1, you might be able to identify your stone after setting it under a scope. It depends on where the flaws in your diamond were... if they weren''t set under a prong, for example.
Where did you buy it from? Is there an inscription on the girdle? You can ask your jeweler to show you either the inscription or the flaws, if possible, and match those to your cert map.
Please keep in mind that it is very rare that a jeweler actually swaps a customer''s diamond, and if I were an honest jeweler I''d be a little offended if it was obvious someone suspected me.
You could make your purchase contingent on an independent appraisal. Jewelers should not be offended if their clients want a *second opinion* it shows that they have nothing to hide. It is a consumer''s duty to be informed and to make sure that they paid for what they got. If your jeweler gets upset at you for wanting to have the stone independently appraised or even make the purchase contingent on an independent appraisal, best get yourself to another jeweler!
