See what I mean ?

WWW

If only the right-hand side version would have a pavilion, it wouldn't be merely a 'mountain of light' ... [Octavia's crown? @diagem @Karl_K ]

Let me copy here the art manifesto attached to the pair of diamonds, lest I forget:

"GemConcepts: We believe a Diamond cut can and should be visually enjoyed from more than one view plane. Just like art sculptures are visually enjoyed. The right jewelry design is an important aspect which is responsible for creating the #3dsculptureeffect."

gorgeous! That's my kind of eye candy.

...

Embarassingly many solutions around here - WWW, but none at the right SCALE

TBD

old emerald cut diamond under his period diamond collection.
Larger table and open culet compared to Octavia.

(One can quote themselves here !?)

CTD. from below, regarding scale:

Considering the first samples on the shelf @ GemConcepts (3 mm purple, yellows & octahedrons !) the right scale of things is roughly ~ WWW , WWW . Light sculptures, @diagem - hung in tension off an edge, free to see.

TBD

@Karl_K

I was thinking (off the wall !) that the grand crown of the Octavia might pass for the pavilion of a rather shallow step cut with a very open culet ! The next thought: how good could light return get, so that the stone could be turned 180º & look as nice.

Truth be told, I remember NOT being able to get anything decent with DC on this problem which Yoram's bottom-ed up diamonds reminded some time ago (there are plenty of other step cuts shown this way in his Instagrams). It seemed that making the two sides mirror images of each other does not work well & offsets would take too much work to figure out !

Digressing ...

Val doesn't work, I have tried a lot to get that to work.
The crown when acting as a pavilion is to shallow.
If its steep enough to maybe work the c1/p1 don't work together as I recall.
