Dear PSers,
I recently had my wedding band custom made - same jeweler who did my engagement ring. The 1st band was a huge disaster, so I changed the design for something simpler - shared prong eternity.
I stressed many times that the prongs should be closer to center in order to have that scalloped edge look.
I even went up to 8-pointers to ensure this (my ring size is 3.5). This post has 8-pointers and has the look I want: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/1-68-ct-whiteflash-shared-prong-eternity-its-finally-here-loads-of-pics.117411/
I got the CAD back, and told him to move the prongs closer to center. He agreed to do so. https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/feedback-on-eternity-shared-prong-cad.195303/
I get the ring back and the prongs are pretty much flush to the diamond's edge, so it doesn't have the scalloped edge effect. It's not an ugly ring, but it's not what we wanted.
He's saying that to move it much closer to center would make it an in-secure setting. And this was the best he could do.
Has anyone encountered this issue, and is it easy to fix? I have a feeling it's more about the cost of re-making the ring. Is there a way to achieve this look without remaking it! We've waited months now after the wedding.
