We are going to be booking our honeymoon in about a week but before we did i wanted to make sure that i was getting the best deal possible and to make sure people have booked their trips through funjet.com or applevacations without any issues.

We will be going to the Dreams Resorts and Spas Puerto Vallarta - Mexico - all inclusive from 2/9 - 2-16
http://www.dreamsresorts.com/drepv/index.html

The resort hasnt been built yet and but will be ready in December, it looks really nice from the pictures. it is $3,632 (without airfare) on their website. does anyone know where we can get the best deals and does anyone have any promotional codes that we can use - please hook it up! :)

the price of 3,632 is for a junior suite with jacuzzi - oceanview

Hi lovehersomuch!

I am getting married at a Dreams Resort (Riviera Maya)...our travel agent booked us (and will book our guests) through NWA World Vacations which was several hundred dollars less than Apple Vacations...may want to check that company, too.

lovehersomuch, not to put a damper on your enthusiasm, but I would be VERY leery of purchasing a vacation at a resort that hasn't even been built yet, and especially when you are booking it through a third-party agency, and especially in the current economy. Personally, I never book vacation spots without checking to make sure the venue has received good reviews on various respected travel-related websites.

Whatever your decision, make sure you purchase trip insurance. Read the fine print, and purchase insurance that covers you if the hotel does not honor your stay, or if any of the travel operators (airline, hotel, car rental company) go out of business. Also make sure to purchase the trip evacuation insurance -- just in case. This insurance is not inexpensive but WELL worth it.

Go to www.insuremytrip.com for a comparison of the best trip insurance carriers.

Also, that sounds VERY expensive to me for a one-week vacation in Mexico, especially without airfare.

Ditto everything MSB said. As Ive been freakishly looking up all kinds of all inclusives/cheaper alternatives for my own elopement

, I would say that is very high for Mexico. Ive seen some on expedia for as low as 1700 pp flight included. IMHO you could do better, even with a suite.

That particular resort is in the Riviera Nayarit area---just north of Puerto Vallarta (we looked at that resort as well, before booking in Riviera Maya).

Like other posters said, I would be careful with booking your honeymoon at a resort that is "scheduled" to be open by a certain time. My DH and I came close to NOT having a honeymoon because of it!

We originally had our honeymoon booked for Secrets Maroma Beach in Riviera Maya, Mexico (South of Cancun) because the opening was scheduled for May. We were going to be travelling from July 21-28 and figured it would have a couple months to work out the ''kinks.'' However, they ended up delaying the opening 2 times and it didn''t officially open until August 1st!

Thank goodness our Travel Agent found out about the delay in time and we were able to switch our honeymoon to Excellence Playa Mujeres (about 20 minutes North of Cancun). It was FABULOUS....we absolutely loved it and were treated like royalty. I would highly recommend it!

Are you set on going to Puerto Vallerta or would you consider Cancun?

If so, here is the website for the Excellence Resorts:

Good luck with your decision...I am sure you will have a fabulous time regardless of where you stay!
