Bonbon style necklace. How do they work?

I'm looking for a bit of advice. I like the look of necklaces/pendants like the below which I've seen called a "bonbon" style. For those that have seen these before, how do they work? Are the two metal ends just folded over the stone? What else is holding the stone in place or stopping it from rocking back and forth?
I've never seen the back of this style.

Also, would this flip a lot? Would I be better off with a slider?
