I wanted to get some opinions on value, though it''s a low quality diamond.
HCA said do not buy, but what about a re-cut?
This deal presented itself to me today, for the second time in 2 months, now 20% lower.

After seeing several posted opinions, I''ll post what the price it was offered at(if I pass).

What''s this GIA diamond worth?

Is it a candidate for significant price appreciation through a re-cut?
and what possible size and value after recut?

Is it eyeclean?

bleck

no cutter in their right mind would touch it for a recut.
With all that going on I'm betting it has strain which could cause it too shatter on the wheel and working around all that and make it durable ,, no way...
It would likely at best come out around 4.0 ct or less and lose a lot of what little value it may have even if it didn't have strain,,...

No way would I buy it, recutting it would be too risky. Too many red flags for me.

I am far from knowing about recutting stones, but that great big feather (crack?) would be a huge red flag for me!

You really need to get an expert cutter/ appraiser to take a look to see if recutting is even viable, and make the sale final on you being reasonably happy with the diamond and the outcome, but do remember recutting is a risky business and there are no guarantees if you do go ahead. If you plan to use it as is, then that is one thing, but even if this rock was accepted as a candidate for recutting, there is plenty that can go wrong. If you order this diamond, make sure at least that the vendor has a good return policy, or get an independant appraisal anyway, in case of durability issues.
