Thanks, everybody, for your help so far!

I've noticed that Bluenile's signature collection has diamonds mostly with pictures that are horrific compared to the ones found on James Allen, but I think it might be that the pictures are fundamentally different in some way?

I've attached a picture from James Allen, belonging to a diamond that's got an excellent cut. I've also attached two pictures from Bluenile, or rather, from two GCAL certificates certifying that they're part of Bluenile's top line of diamonds. The "photomicrographs" don't look as appealing when compared to JA's picture... but it doesn't mean that these signature diamonds from Bluenile are bad, does it??

Thanks a lot!

Just photo taking setup is different.

JA is better at taking pictures than GCAL. That doesn't make them better stones but it certainly serves them well and they might be better stones. It's a big world and people choose their dealers for different reasons. Photography tips towards JA (or an assortment of other dealers who are better at it than BN). Bear in mind that the stone is not the photograph. By all means buy from the dealer who suits your style the best but, in the end, the advertisement is just that, an advertisement. The stone is whatever it is and taking a picture of it doesn't make it either better or worse.
