Well I am on the hunt for an engagement ring. I''ve gone through several B&M jewelery stores and coutless hours researching on the web. One thing that caught my eye was the Bluenile signature cut princess diamonds. It states the following on the Bluenile website:

"The Blue Nile Signature princess-cut diamond features a high crown that almost doubles the industry standard. The higher crown allows these diamonds to gather more light, while the precise polish and symmetry enable them to display increased brilliance.
With its smaller table and precise symmetry, the Blue Nile Signature princess-cut diamond is able to return more light. Each diamond is crafted to maximize quality over size. While typical diamonds are cut to a depth of 88% or more, Blue Nile Signature diamonds are cut to a depth of 70% or less, sacrificing approximately 7% carat weight to ensure higher quality. "

Does anyone have any experience with diamonds from bluenile especially the signature cut ones? I''d hate to pay more for a diamond that simply has a name attached to it.

they''re nice.

Julie,

Sorry to challenge you...but why do you think so.

Everything''s relative.

Some previous thoughts here.

Blue Nile does provide a picture of their Signature stones.

Todd of Nice Ice wanted to carry stones from the same manufacturer, but they have an exclusive arrangement with BN, iirc.

There may be a few pictures of BN Sig pr cuts floating around.

MP, I have a carat and a half of Blue Nile Signature Ideal on my hand.

It's GORGEOUS. It sparkles like no other princess I've seen. My hand gets grabbed by random strangers at work (I'm a hotel concierge) a couple of times a week.

I have no first-hand experience with Good Old Gold, Whiteflash, James Allen or the other Pricescope favorites, but I will tell you that Blue Nile was wonderful working with my fiance and he felt confident about the purchase. He asked lots of questions and felt that they were very helpful and honest, especially when it came to narrowing it down which one he wanted.

The shot I've attached isn't great - I took it before I got a lot of practice with my camera - but I think it shows the stone pretty well. The setting is a Tacori, purchased locally at Bailey Banks & Biddle at 30% off Tacori's list.

Since I plan on never 'upgrading', my fiance and I didn't care that Blue Nile doesn't have an upgrade policy, as Whiteflash and others do. Blue Nile's return policy was fantastic though.... not that we needed it!

Thank you, February2003bride!!!

Since then I have learned how to capture fire with my camera.

I keep meaning to do a thread and tell the story of my ring but I''m getting married March 8th and time''s kinda getting away from me.

i know that mostly ppl dont like BN here, but i have an ideal cut from them and its beautiful. I took it to the appraisal and they didnt find any problem with it, it appraised as a great stone.
go for a GIA cert stone and it really doesn''t matter where you get it from.

you can then set it in the brick and mortar store. just my humble opinion

Holy Smokes March-8-2008, your ring is Gorgeous! We need more pics when you can.

Wow, that is the exact setting that most caught my eye at BB&B when I did my research there. I came very close to buying a ring with that exact setting. If you don''t mind me asking what did they want to charge you for the setting. I was quoted a price of $3085 after they took 15% off the price.

Is that around the same deal you got?

88% or more?? Do they mean all diamonds, or just princess cuts are cut that deep? Hmmmmm.....I''m no expert, but that seems like an untruth. I''ve never seen stats on any diamonds, any shape, that were cut that deep.

March - your ring is beautiful!

March the ring you have is awesome. You wouldn''t happen to have a shot of it on your hand would you?

I love it.
