Either one of these snake bracelets would be so great, or others like them. The all gold one is from Pompeii, nearly 2000 years old. The other one is Victorian.

My own attempt at this look, which is only a rare mood sort of thing.

I prefer your look to the one in the history books. Snakelicious. Beautiful.

That is fabulous Bluegemz!!!! The fact that you have enough pieces to pull it off is just wow!
Thankyou! It is surprising to me too...these rings kind of work together. The thumb ring is more of a spiral ring with yellow and white gold, and the little gold snake I picked up at a vintage jewelry store...I added the pearl. It reminded me of a lovely gold snake midi ring which had a pearl dangling from it, which I lent to my mother and then she lost it. Ugh! So I kind of replaced it but the first one was more beautiful.

@Bluegemz would you mind sharing how thick your lavender ring cab is?

I LOVE the thickness! I like a bit of a boulder look!

Thank you! My closest measurements are about 5.5mm to 6 mm with calipers, but in the setting, it’s hard to be exact.

Oooh thanks! No wonder it has such a lovely high dome!

I remeasured again...6.5- to maybe 7...Impossible to be exact though because I can’t tell how much
is under the bezel even though it’s not a closed back. She only gave me length and width measurements when I bought it. It looked like a nice enough dome to me from profile, so I didn’t ask about thickness. As long as a cab is isn’t paper thin, and has a beautiful curve, I’m flexible.:) I do love double cabochons though, where it is curved on both sides of the cab. That feels luxurious to me.

@Bluegemz, I love these snake rings!
Don't you feel that the imagery and representation of the animal is part of the allure? It's not so much about the precious metal or the gemstones, but the essence and feeling of the animal it mirrors.

Thank you, @Stracci! Absolutely... I love the animal spirit which they represent. I was hiking and my son caught a green snake. It was so beautiful, with such a quiet dignity about it. It did not try to bite, just wrapped around his hand. Of course he let it go. But, the feeling of that snake made a lasting impression. When it left, the way it moved was mesmerizing, just a ribbon of green flashing into the underbrush, vanishing as quickly as it came. It carried with it the sentiment of enchantment into a world unknown.
And the rings make me feel ‘wrapped’ in that way! I’ve been wearing the large snake ring for the past 2 days... I also love that though snake jewelry can sometimes be cute, more often it has has a hypnotic, reverent, enchanting quality to in which it is harder to judge it in the ways that we do with other jewelry. For one cannot just say pretty, or elegant, or blingy, or e ring, anniversary ring....and so on. There is a simplicity which is loaded with meaning, beautiful but not pretty, etc. snake jewelry carries An equilibrium of both light and shadow in it, like the themes which it has represented, such as sexual passion, love, poison and medicine, eternity etc etc.
in the ancient world, when people must have been more conscious of the precariousness of life, and thier own connection to the processes and experience of life and death, I can see why these themes were so important to represent. For myself, I feel no superficiality with snake jewelry, as I am reminded also of these archetypal themes.

@Bluegemz, I feel very emotional about alot of my jewelry, as I'm sure you do as well.
Most of what I have has meaning connected.
I have many pieces that my Dad bought for me when I was younger. I recently told him that I still have these things and he was surprised.
I have many pieces that were gifts, and they all have special sentiment about the giver.
But the pieces that I chose for myself are more involved.
Sapphire, sapphire, what can I say? They are my birthstone, and I have ways been drawn to them.
Jade is also a magnet for me. I have a lot, and probably none if it is of high quality. But I still love it anyway.
Vintage pieces, unusual stones, and anything handmade resonates with me. I always need to know provenance, if possible.
I never buy jewelry because it's "pretty".
There must be something special about a piece before I am interested.

BTW, my sister always called me Medusa because I had very long hair in my teens and 20s!

I completely get it and totally agree with you. Jewelry has to have something special about it. I’m not excited by only pretty, blingy, mainstream, mass produced or popular, but mix somethings in occasionally. I’m influenced by visions, meanings and simple elegance expressed in jewelry. At the same time, I’m very aware and inspired by the life of stones in and of themselves.

I really love that you are attracted to sapphires and jade! It is so lovely that your father gifted you pieces. My father thought jewelry unnecessary . He still doesn’t understand about jewelry...sigh. He gave me just a few things in my life. My mother gave me more, but for her love is in paintings, music etc. and jewelry is just something beautiful to be worn. It is
Isn’t in her blood the same way.

I saw this wonderful ring with a mix between snakes and navette , which I thought fabulous and brought me back to the deep appreciation which I have for this shape. They are so fantastically mysterious, lengthen fingers and are inherently a little witchy. A great form for sentimentality expressed. I think every lady needs one!

I asked my husband, “ how would you describe the essence of the navette ring as you experience it?” His description was that it has a drawing in while extending out, so it’s not still in spirit. Because of this drawing in and extending out, it has an opening quality to it, like opening from the inside to the out. But I would add that it’s extending out with a focus, like encapsulating the person of love, the meaning, ie, the snakes, which then pulls back into personal meaning.

I’m loving all the snake inspiration!

Here’s my snake bracelet...
Hehe. His name is Wrigley and he’s a baby python.

Awe, he’s adorable!! Love love love him. Great name for your ring too.

.I had a corn snake for many years. Got her as a baby and she died 2 years ago after a long life. Here’s a picture of her when she was really little, actually the only picture I have.

OMG, I love that miniature portrait ring!
Here is my vintage sterling and agate ring. It is more orangey than the camera shows. (Cell phone cameras,,,uggh!)
I especially love the beveling on the stone, and the translucency.
