I picked up a few more fun little stones today - it was payday and my husband said I could pick out whatever I wanted. But dang it, I just couldn''t bring myself to pay $300 for that gorgeous rose pink sapphire...maybe next time!

So instead I got a 2.41ct blue topaz.

Bottom. This was hard to get the true color of.

Hand shot.

And now for the pinkish gray spinel. This one looked lavender/pink in the shop lights, and looks pale pink/gray outdoors. These were taken in sunset so the color is not at it''s best.

Bottom. It''s a strange cut I have never seen before, and very deep.

The topaz looks great and puts the poor spinel to shame. You''ll have to try again with the spinel when you get the chance.

Hand shot. This thing sparkles like MAD.

Lol I thought so, too! The spinel looks kind of sad and dirty in this light. I need to find some flourescents.

your topaz is Fantastic! it doesn''t look like your average round brillant cut is it?

It doesn''t - it looks like it has a ton more facets, almost concave they are so thin. It isn''t perfectly round either, but I loved that about it. There were tons more if I wanted a perfectly round one, but this one was just so funny I had to have it lol.

Monkeypie - is that a natural blue topaz? If so, that color is great! I have a soft spot for blue topaz, and I''ve loved them since before I found PS and heard about all the treatments. But even now that I know, heck, I still love them, natural color or not. And I''m dying for a spinel - gotta get me some of that sparkle!!

It''s irradiated :) There was one next to it that wasn''t treated, and it was almost the same color though. This one is a bit more teal with the treatment, which is one of my favorite colors, so I just had to snag it!

MP, where are you finding these AWESOME stones???

A shop local to me! Kinda cool, huh? They have trays and trays of loose stones in these revolving cases and I could just stand and browse for hours. For being native cut they are usually very nice. They have a few duds, but generally are very sparkly.

How do you choose just one or two??? I would go NUTS in a place like that!!!! Do they have all kinds of gemstones?

Oh, I DO! I just can''t afford to buy more than one or two at a time, haha!
They have literally every kind of stone, including a lot of stuff that isn''t faceted (like cabs, and polished flat stones). You can also get loose diamonds and rough for a lot of stones, too.

Such lovely stones!!

That pink grey is very interesting! I hope we get more pics of it soon!

Wow that blue topaz is beautiful! It''s much more blue than the blue topaz I have. Just stunning.
