Hey everyone! So, what is the feeling on Blue Nile? I made a purchase from them years ago, but I am wondering about their current quality/customer service. Any information would be really helpful, as my SO and I are seriously looking at engagement rings.
Unfortuntely they dont have pictures of there stones so you may want to stay up in the VS2 or higher range to make sure it
is eye-clean. Use the HCA tool to eliminate stones that will probably not be good performers. Anything that scores 2 or
less is worth a further look.
I am really glad someone started this thread. I too am very interested to see what posters say as I have to admit I am surprised that it is not mentioned more. I also agree that as they don't have images of the diamond as they are a database that vs2 may be safer, however I have also just done some searches myself and it seems the comparative pricing seems good for Blue Nile compared to other more commonly spoken of vendors here. There are obviously benefits of buying from a vendor where the stone is in house, the pictures are available, idealscope or asset images are there, but I cant help but notice there is a markup you pay for that. Maybe larger stones a return policy may be important...
I purchased my diamond from Bluenile a couple of months ago. I was very pleased with the service I received. I called several times to ask questions and they were very helpful. I purchased their Signature Ideal which is a stone they have in house (others are not in house) and had the advantage of the accompanying GCAL certificate (just a little extra peace of mind). It is true that they do not supply images, however, they have a 30 day return policy. I felt that I got a good price for my diamond and couldn't be happier. I would recommend shopping only GIA XXX and posting the diamond specs here for the experts to advise on.
I have purchased several diamonds and settings from Blue Nile and all have been great! I did get them appraised just to double check that I was sent the correct stone, that it matched the cert, and insurance value. I hope to upgrade at some point in the future and will be buying from BN again.
