Blue Nile Signature 15% off. What do you think

whats fat wallet?

Hi KingKong, that is a very generous offer and if you are in the market for an engagement ring, I'd take advantage of it. Blue Nile rarely has offers like that.

However, not that diamond! The angles are all wrong - pavilion angle is deep and the crown too steep for it. If you run it through the Holloway Cut Adviser under Tools on this website, it scores really badly at 3.6.

Utilise the coupon, but not that diamond!

I'll look at the inventory for a better one. What's your preferred colour/size/clarity, and budget?

Fat wallet is comparison tool for shopping that offers discounts by giving you cash back when purchased through their store link. Its great but often takes months to have cash back put in your account.
I just noticed that the maximum Blue nile is giving is 700 dollars and Fatwallet 375 dollars.
My budget is 10K but will exceed that if its the right stone/setting. I am looking for bang for my buck.
Thanks

Just ran a number of diamonds through the HCA. Basically, if you want a really great cut at H colour and 1.30, it's going to be about 11.3k. There are a couple priced about 10.7k but they do not score well on the Holloway Cut Adviser, which is under Tools on this website. The score should be under 2. Even better, if the cross is inside the solid white box then it meets the cut parameters for the strict AGS triple 0 cut.

Here's about the least expensive H 1.30 with great numbers - scoring 1.3 on the HCA - and also inside the AGS box, for $11,328. Don't forget you have the discount, cashback, and potentially the wire discount price if that can be combined with the offer.

If you chose an I colour, you'd suddenly have a ton more choice.

This one is 1.41 carats, I, Si1, costs $10,989 without a wire discount (not sure if you'd get a wire discount along with the offer?) and it scores 1.3 on the HCA with the cut falling inside the solid white box - so again within AGS triple 0 parameters.

Let me know how you feel about I colour before I run any more! Because if you're OK with I, there is more choice closer to 10k than 11k.

FYI: A ton of people here have I colours and love them. A well-cut I graded by a good lab such as GIA or AG should face up very white, and the slight tint is usually only seen when holding them right next to a D or an E, in my experience.

I am ok with an I as i don't feel it will make a huge difference in a solitaire setting. I found this elsewhere and read that you can get a Pricescope discount with brian Gavin

or the blue nile one.

What do you think this diamond?
thanks

It came out as a 2.5 on the HCA, but I had to use percentages not angles as we can't see the certificate because the diamond isn't in-house at BGD. Percentages are not quite as accurate.

I don't think it looks that great - the depth% is above the desired max of 62 - this one is 62.6. But you could always call BGD and ask their advice on it. They are a great company.

Have you looked at the Brian Gavin Blue line?

Brian Gavin does have a Pricescope discount, although I'm not sure exactly how much for a stone of this price.

Have you looked at Whiteflash's Expert Selection line? Also, James Allen is very good, and you can see a video of each diamond: www.jamesallen.com..

Good old Gold is also very well thought-of here. www.goodoldgold.com..

WF and James Allen offer PS discounts too, but I don't know about Good Old Gold. However, all four of these companies are tried and true here, very reputable, and can obtain light performance images such as ASETs which Blue Nile can't do. You can then post the images here and the experts will take a look.
