I have a question...I know people say high quality round diamonds are colorless...white even...but I was looking at a stone recently (G color), 1.7 HCA, and it almost looked blue-ish...am I crazy and seeing things? or are my eyes playing tricks on me...maybe Im partially color blind?

sorry if this is a dumb question.

flourescence?

Scintillating...

Did the stone possibly have very strong blue fluorescence? That can sometimes give the stone blue flashes in certain light conditions.

ETA: Scint, we must've been posting at the same time.

according to GIA report, no fluorescence. does scintillation make slightly blue tints?

was your shirt blue?

I think it was! but I had a black coat over it...

in the photo gallery, there is a pic called "diamond in the rough" - looks similar, maybe not as blue.

was the room you were in blue? or was it sunlight?

my stone looks pretty blue in sunlight and also in my car which is blue...if you were in a room that''s blue or a car or similar that would do it.

I dont recall....maybe...so I guess thats normal? it is rather sparkly, so maybe it was reflecting something I didnt notice.

it''s fun trying to capture different looks that diamonds can have. i love that blue pic!

I like the pic!

So maybe it was just reflecting something blue (since GIA said no fluorescence, G color) that I didnt notice. I was inside under typical store lighting.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts.
