Blue Gray Star Sapphire Ring

A gift for my mom...because I'm her star! I've had this sapphire unset for awhile - I bought it years ago on ebay as it's a bit unusual to find star sapphires that are so round. A few months ago, I stumbled upon this 14k vintage setting that looked like it would be a fit, and I was in luck! I love how sharp the star is on the sapphire, and the crown-like prongs on the setting. The stone is around 4.5ct and I paid $250 for the setting. I know my mom loves a deal as much as I do, and I hope she loves this ring!

I love it! Grey star sapphires are underrated. The setting is very unusual - the prongs seem to climb organically up the stone. I wonder what it held originally.

It’s beautiful! I love the setting - the prongs remind me of a setting @mrs-b has (or used as inspiration- fuzzy brain at the moment). The star is so sharp and clear - a real treasure!

This is so cool... I'm a big fan of gray gems in general. But the star (and the fact that it's corundum) makes it all the more interesting. I love the sentiment behind it as well!!

More pics! It's such a soothing shade and the adularescence gives the sapphire an ethereal quality. Too bad it's a gift...now I need one for me!
