Blog Etiquette?

For those of you who blog... what kind of etiquette do you follow? If you want to post pictures from another website or blog, do you ask permission first or simply "cite" your source? What rules are there? I''ve very recently begun a blog and would like to make sure I go about it the right way and not step on anyone''s toes if you know what I mean. Please fill me in!

I just "cite" the sources with a mention and a link when I use someone else''s photos or info.
