I'm on the hunt for an upgrade :)) My husband and I have already purchased our wedding band, a 1.4ct Princess eternity ring, so I'm on the hunt for a 2ct+, G-H, SI2. I have found this diamond, but I am slightly worried about the black X in the center of the stone. The sales woman said it was not an inclusion, just the reflexion of the camera. I'm not looking for an AGS0000 diamond, just a well cut diamond. Is this one a good deal?

the X is a reflection and is not an inclusion. however there appears to be a black inclusion near the X.

I would ask JA for an ASET image. also you may want to get the diamond shipped to you before you get it set to ensure it is eye-clean to your standards.

Wow! Thanks for all the responses. I'll resquest an image of the first and probably the second diamond. I also have a request in with a different vendor on a few stones, but I'm waiting on an image of the diamond. Thanks again! :))

JA came back saying the inclusion is visiable to the naked eye. I'm a little surprised since it is an SI1, but I'm going to keep looking. There's a diamond out their I'll love, I'm sure.

SI1s can have visible inclusions...I would keep looking. Did you ask about jstar's pick?

I did not ask about Jaystars pick. The "Good" cut grading worries me, and it is a very deep princess. JA came back and said the inclusion won't be noticable to the eye since it is white and not black. I have requested an aset of the diamond. I have also requested info for these 2 diamond.

Eye clean, and picture looks good

Any of these stand out as being a great diamond for a good price?

Thanks!

I would not worry about the 'good' cut rating...even JA says you can ignore those for fancy cuts. The depth is not too high for a princess cut.

Looks like the same phenomenon in your old thread here slg? https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/dark-spot-in-center-of-princess-cut-diamonds.155886/

ETA The second b2c radiant says out of stock? The 2.00ct from JA has a report from '09, if interested further I would plan on an independent appraisal to confirm that the report indicates the current condition of the stone - that there are no scratches/chips from previous setting jobs or careless wear.

Regarding the one I suggested, I'll ditto slg...the vendor's cut rating of "good" was based solely on proportions, not actual light performance, and given to the diamond by the vendor, not a lab. You can pretty much throw out vendor cut grades unless they're backed up by a reputable lab's cut grade (and only AGS grades princesses on cut quality). I suspect the 76% depth is why it got a rating of "good," but there's a lot more to the story of princess cut quality than just table and depth, and 76% is not considered too deep. In fact, it's well within the range of AGS ideal cut princesses. My branded AGS ideal princess has a depth of 74.9%, which is not far from 76%!

Looking at the B2C stones, I don't see actual photos, just the stock images. Am I missing something? I'm not well-versed in radiants so I can't speak about that one except to say you would also want to get an ASET if available. I don't favor the princess from B2C because the table is pretty substantially greater than the depth, and the polish and symmetry are only good, not very good or excellent.

Regarding the ones from JA, I see substantial amounts of leakage in the photos. The G/SI2 has that "fuzzy" appearing area in the center, and the H/SI1 appears to be leaking from triangular areas at the top and bottom of the table. I would not have chosen these to get an ASET on, but perhaps it will come back and surprise me! For what it's worth, I still think the one I picked out is the best of the bunch cut-wise, followed by your first pick (but that one wasn't eye-clean). About the inclusion in the first one you picked out, keep in mind that the inclusion can't be hidden by a prong since it's right in the middle. I personally wouldn't be OK with a stone that's not 100% eye-clean (and that's in part why I got a VVS2, although VS would have also been acceptable for us).

(edited to change the wording around because I referred to fiancees and stuff)

I definitely agree with the first diamond not being eye clean. JA examiners tried to tell me it would be 100% eye clean, but my mind could get over the spot in the middle. I did receive an ASET on the stone and it wasn't the greatest (I'm not an expert though). I decided to go with the 2.21 G Radiant from B2C (Picture attached, I hope). The setting and stone should arrive by the end of the week :)) I'll post a pic when I get it and start a new thread on my new setting. Thanks everyone for all the advice. I've learned a lot from this site and all of you!
