recently bought this ring and i would like to ask your opinion on how much you think a rock like this should be worth??

Maybe around $1,000-$1,500 including the ring? I have no clue really but for price comparison on black diamonds, here's a 6.69 carat black cushion for about $2,300: http://www.fancydiamonds.net/view_diamonds/3099.htm

I've never seen a black diamond in person so forgive the ignorance in question!

Do they have any "depth" to them or are so a solid opaque color? I'm assuming they have no scintillation because they look almost glossy in appearance- am I wrong?

um, it's hard to describe it... it is sparkly but almost opaque... when light hits it, its slightly translucent and bluish/grey....
