Biggest diamond ring you feel comfortable wearing...

10 carat center should get me good edge to edge coverage or else I'm removing a RIB from my finger :lol-2:
Haha. You’re funny. I wonder if those with larger stones (10+ carats) have safety concerns when wearing the ring in public.

Always lie and say it's fake. Nordstrom has the best crystals! Bahahahahah

I don't think I'd go over 2.5 cts in a round stone. I'd totally try something bigger in a fancy cut though. Something extremely unaffordable probably as I've never even tried on anything like that. Emerald, asscher, maybe even a giant heart shape with a halo because I'm the only one on here that loves hearts probably, lol.

Haha! Yes, I have noticed Nordstrom carries decent quality costume jewelry. :P2

In a round probably a 9.8 mm. I had one that size that I returned due to color. Actually now that I think about it, I remember thinking it was too big and feeling uncomfortable at a dinner with my husband’s family. I actually turned it around to my palm so they wouldn’t see it. I wonder if I was more uncomfortable about size or color tho.
What are the measurements of your 3.3?

Well I actually returned the 3.3 but it was 9.54 mm average.
My new ACA is 3.098 and it is 9.35 mm average.
I honestly don’t notice much size difference between the 3.3 and 3.1. Whiteflash was even able to set the new one into the same Stuller setting.

I must have missed your thread on your 3.098. What are the specs? :)

Btw.

Had you not asked about a ring, speciafically ...

WWW

I prefer to forget that rings exist on my finger - so better low, light & tough ... Just realized that the ring design(s) I like would scale gingerly into bangles ,-)

No, I haven’t made a thread on it. I did add pics on the last page of my 3.321 thread. I want to permanently set it first.
It’s an I VS1 ACA.

I'm looking for one between 2.5 and 3. It's how I stumbled onto Pricescope.

Nice. :) So, you were able to see the internal graining in your 3.3? I think mine has internal graining as one of the characteristics as well, but how were you able to see it with unaided eye?

I think 3ct RB is my limit

I once tried on a beautiful OEC which was a smidge over 3 carats. It had the most captivating checkerboard faceting, and even though it was an M colour, it sat so elegantly with my G colour eternity band. I never thought I would enjoy a solitaire diamond ring (never mind something so big - I live in Northern Europe where big bling is not so common) but I saw this ring 2 years ago, and I still think about it

I thought 3 carat was my limit. When I walked into the Harry Winston boutique, I tried on a couple of honkers (6 to 8 carat), some in halos. It looked perfect to me...and then I saw a 14 carat asscher at Tiffany's. Which looked divine  So - there's no such thing as too big. I will gladly take Mariah Carey's 30 carat EC any day! Now if only I had the funds to match...

Hi, no, the 3.3 doesn’t have internal graining listed. I don’t know what those lines were to be honest. I previously had a G (which later graded as an F when it was sent back to AGS for recert) VS1 ACA and it had internal graining listed but I never saw it. I was told in a thread I made that that was probably what it was. I personal think they were polish lines.
When I first received it I had louped it to match the diamonds inclusions to make sure they matched the AGS cert. I noticed through the loupe the diamond had wavy lines. Like when you’re looking at a lake and you see ripples in the water. Clear but there. And they formed somewhat of a circle if you followed it Through. Then I saw that the diamond also had flourescence and the flourescence was like a little cloud under the table with one area right in the center of that cloud that was more concentrated.
I was not able to see it with my naked eye.
But every time I took a picture the lines showed up and it just bugged me. It was a VS2 but I’ve seen SI’s that photographed clearer.
And I don’t know what it was, but the diamond appeared cloudy sometimes. Not all the time, but it bugged me. I will see if I can post a picture of what I mean.
So I asked WF when they would be getting new stock but since it was the summer it took a few weeks. They did get a few here and there but some where out of my budget and one 3.1 I VS1 had yellow flourescence! So that was out for me.
Luckily I signed up to be notified when new diamonds came in that met my criteria and something popped up the end of August.
Whitfeflash has been great to work with by the way!!!

I have a 2.86 OEC with 9.04*8.65 mm, which would translate to a 2.5 - 2.7 ct. round. I wear it daily as a solitaire, and DSS set in really quickly. I could imagine to wear a 10 mm round, but most likely and OEC not an RB.

In fancy shapes I could imagine as big as 5 ct.

I could easily handle 5ct in a round and 7ct in a fancy cut!

Here is what I mean. This is with a moissanite by the way. In direct sunlight the diamond appeared cloudy. I know it wasn’t dirty bc I’m pretty anal about keeping it clean and have an ultrasonic machine.
It’s the ring on top.

But in indirect sunlight the diamond looked fine. Again it wasn’t always that cloudy but that picture really shows what I mean.

The sky is the limit. The biggest one I ever tried on was 20 carats. It looked and felt mighty fine.

I feel like the biggest diamond ring I could wear needs to be divided in different categories. For a daily wear for all activities and social groups, I think a stone between 9 mm to 10 mm. No halo. However, if we are talking about a date night/gala/special event, the sky is the limit as @Madam Bijoux said above!

I don't do diamonds as a main stone for rings, so maybe moot for me...lol

Largest stone I had set into a ring was 15cts. I don't wear it often, its heavy, but it sure is pretty. I have a 10ct blue zircon which if I ever get my ass in gear, will also be in a ring. It will be ginormous.

And of course they're not everyday rings for me (I hardly wear them at all though I have quite a few...)

If I could put a diamond in Elsa I would. And that would be the largest diamond I'd wear, most likely.

I am the oddball but to me I would want no more than .5-.75 carat round super ideal, as the center stone for a solitaire, 3 stone, or 5 stone ring. That's because I want to get a ring I can wear and enjoy 95% of the time and not have to worry about it! I do really like seeing the larger antique diamonds some are sporting, along with the delicate vintage type settings, on other people. If money was no limit, I might get a honking colored stone ring, like a blue sapphire to wear on occasion.

I see the lines, and that was the 3.3? The moissanite is the one that looks like an antique cut?

Yes. The moissanite is an OEC. It has the 8 prongs while the 3.3 had the 6 prongs.
Again, from just looking at it you wouldn’t see it I think. But after knowing it was there and having diamonds that don’t have those lines, I would rather just have one without them for peace of mind.

I know what you mean. Glad you found one that you’re happy with. :) That is the reason I no longer use a loupe to view the internal characteristics of my diamond, because it’s all about having a mind-clean disposition. :)
