My dad sent me some of these pictures in an email ---They're like miniature ponies! CRAZY!!!

Deb, I LOVE it when you post pictures of Griffin! I just want to throw my arms around him and burry myself in all that glorious fur!

AMAZING. I LOVE to pick up dogs for some reason-I guess because I pick up my kitties? My friends think I'm weird but they let me pick up their big dogs! Although none are as big as Griffin-I definitely couldn't pick him up!

The biggest dog I picked up and held for a while was a German shepherd, and he LOVED it. Probably because his sister is a bratty Yorkie and she was super jealous. :cheeky:

Lifting Griffin is like carrying a vast teddy bear around. What a love!!!

I get a charge out of carrying Charlie, my Siberian, around. At 44 lbs., she isn't crazy about it but I can do it. She tends to hang motionless like a dead body but she lets me pick her up & bury my face in her thick ruff. My others never went for it & I couldn't manage with Buck, who weighed 65 wiggly pounds, anyhow. If I tried, he bellowed & groaned enough not to make it worth it, silly animal.

I LOVE big dogs!

So awesome! This made me grin like a loony person. I adore Newfs... they look like big grizzly bears. My dog is medium sized- about 28 pounds and the only times I lift her is when she needs a bath and has to be put in the tub. But she HATES being carried.

I wish there were a whole thread of just Griffin pictures! Love him!

Laurie: I love the way you write! Its so precise and vivid - I can imagine Buck being a big baby and wailing his head off while you would try and pick him up...

Deb: What a gorgeous pile of fur you have in Griffin!

I have three, all at least 45 lbs - one is closer to 100 lbs - and it never dawned on me to try and pick them up. Hmm.

I decided to post some of the photos from that site; I had had them saved to my computer already. I really didn't want anyone to miss them. Thank you all for your kind words about Griffin. He really is wonderful to cuddle with. I especially love it when I come out to the living room during the night and find him sleeping in the middle of my path with all four paws in the air. He exposes his belly and lots and lots and lots of warm dog fur at his neck and chest that I don't hesitate to dive into! He is sleepy, but always happy to cuddle and just feels wonderful! There is so much there that it is softer that ten down comforters on a bed!

Deb, I like how all the photos your posted show handsome men carrying big dogs

HUGE BIG FWUFFY PUPPIES

Oh, lord, they are adorable.

I'm glad mine are comparatively teeny at 11 and 17 lbs, though.

Dee*Jay, I don't know which I love more - big doggy or Daddy #4. Could I have them as a package deal?

It looks like each of those dogs has about 10 lbs in fur alone!

I assume this was directed at me since no one else would know the weight of one of the big doggies! We haven't had him on a scale recently. He was only 134 the last time he was weighed, but he has filled out a lot since then! I was afraid he was overweight, because at 16 months he was only 120-125 and looked full gown and the vets all said his weight was perfect and that this breed can get too fat. My vet has now twice told me that his weight is perfect, though. She said that he is three and will be four years old and is no longer a lanky adolescent. As a full grown male he is supposed to fill out. I am assuming he weighs about 150 pounds now. She will get him on a scale the next time she comes.

As for the men who carry these dogs...my daughter was looking at the photo of Griffin and her friend who had held him up for the photo and said, "Isn't he a big bear?". I said, "Yes, and Griffin's not small, either". It only took a second for the penny to drop because she knows me. However she has another friend (a football player) lined up for tonight. She can't get enough of taking photos of Griffin being lifted and this other friend is a body builder, so she asked him if he can lift Griffin over his head. My question is: how would Griffin like that?

HA! Please share these photos and Griffin's reaction with us!

No pics to share but my 90lb Rhodesian Ridgeback can be quite the prince (and baby!) sometimes. DH took him for a walk last year just after a snow storm. Most of the sidewalks were clear but Hollis did not like the snow getting between his paw pads. He whined and did that funny doggy thing where they try to pick up all four paws at once. I looked out the window to see my DH (who is only 150lbs) CARRYING Hollis home!

LOL!! The big ones are the biggest babies.

All those dogs look like they can't figure what's happening to them, like "Oh sigh, go along to get along."

OH!!! Those dogs look so wonderful and cuddly!! I wish my dogs were BIGGER now!!! And I wouldn't mind a doggy cuddle from Daddy 3 or 4... just sayin' :naughty: :Up_to_something:

Our biggest, the airedale, pales in comparison but he is not a cuddly dog. The labs sure are tho.

I had a Pyr that was 85 lb. (on the small end of the breed) and when you picked her up, she just hung there like a rag doll. I have a picture somewhere of me lying on the couch and her sitting on my chest and then curled up on top of me using me as a dog bed.

Minou, he certainly did, and you should have heard him on the grooming table -- everybody in the neighborhood couldn't tune him out! Wail, woowoo, cry big tears, and if I caught the rake where he didn't like it, WUFFFFFF! with a "you hurt me on purpose!" glare. What a drama king. I miss him so much!

I want another dog so badly! We have 1 doggy and 2 cats and the husband won't let me get another one. Seeing this thread is raising my temptation levels dangerously high!!! Arrghhh. Maybe I can convince him a big fluffy dog would keep me warm at night and we can lower the thermostat, thereby saving on our heating costs. Maybe he'll buy that? :Up_to_something:

Wuv cuddly wuddly fuzzy bear dogs. I'm trying very hard not to give in to the voice in my head that keeps whispering "get a puppy" over and over. I like big dogs, though, so it would take quite a commitment from me. Any of the giant breeds will do, but in particular, I can't get my mind off of a Boerboel

HA you mean mama! I have a big boy kitty and he gets HIGHLY OFFENDED when I brush him and clip his nails. My favorite is that he meows/wants to hiss so he looks at me with this open mouth. I'm like "I give you Tiki Cat, I know you're not thinking about hissing at me!" His fur is the type to get little dreadlocks if I don't stay on top of it, and his claws are so giant they start getting stuck on EVERYTHING, so I don't have a choice.

My God, is that dog REAL? A boerboel, never heard of it. He looks like a big slobbery honeypie. And a big discouragement to muggers!

Rubyshoes, go for it! Think of all the money you could save on blankets too, and laundering them. You wouldn't need a burglar alarm. What else?...there must be more!

Well...Griff is having fun. He only got lifted part way again, although this guy is 6' 3" and very strong looking. I don't think the pictures will be any more dramatic than the last one posted, but Griffin has had a ball. Not only was this huge guy a dog lover and fun to play with inside, but he went outside in the (old) snow and ran around with Griff until Griff started to sneeze and gave up in exhaustion. I explained that Griffin was out of shape because he hasn't been exercised in the cold weather, so he suggested to my daughter that they walk him together now. In the dark. In the cold. In winter. And that is what they are doing now while I am on Pricescope!

Now no one tell me there is no God!
