I received my BGD five stone trellis 11 platinum ring on Thursday and it's absolutely beautiful! I just want to say thank you to everyone that helped and provided feedback along the way. I truly appreciated every bit of advice.

Stats:
.575 H SI1 (5.3mm)
.313 G VS2 (4.37)
.314 G VS2 (4.36)
.206 G SI1 (3.78)
.202 G SI1 (3.72)

Size 5.

I will post pictures in a bit when I have some time. The ring is super comfortable and I love the trellis setting. Originally I had selected all the same size stones and the u-prong setting but I'm happy I changed my mind and went for a graduated look in the trellis setting. I plan on wearing the ring for a few days just to make sure I'm 100% happy and absolutely want to keep it.

This ring has definitely think more about my e-ring that I had reset by ERD last summer. I've never been extremely happy with my reset and already had to take my ring back to ERD to replace pave and fix the milgrain that was wearing off after months of wearing the ring. I really want to reset my stone which is a 1.28 RB F SI1 into something else I love and can feel comfortable wearing all the time. in terms of settings, I'm either looking at keeping with a halo (round halo vs cushion halo that I have right now) or moving to a solitare with pave on the shank. My concern with the solitare option is that I might think my diamond looks small coming from a halo.

For either a solitare or halo what vendors would you consider looking at? Would BG be a good vendor to use for a halo? For instance, I was eyeing the Sarah halo they have on their site. For a solitare with pave I was looking at the BG six prong truth regal or one of their other ones with the truth head. I can't seem to find many photos of either ring besides what's on their site.

Would love to know what other vendors might be worth a look.

It's amazing how one perfect peice can give you so much clarity about your other baubles

I'm not familiar with your set, what does your e ring look like now. What's your wedding band?

NIel i know exactly what you mean. As soon as I started comparing this ring to my others I knew immediately I wanted to make some changes. It kills me to spend the money but I know my e-ring could be executed better and the only things I see when I look at it are its flaws. I know ERD comes highly recommended so I'm surprised I don't love my reset. Anyways, here are a few really bad iPHone pictures of you new ring and e-ring in my bathroom which has terrible lightening and makes everything look yellow. I didn't post my wedding band but it matches my e-ring.

I did get a quote from VC for the emilya with stones on the shank and without. It's definitely a consideration but I have a few hesitations because I don't want another ring I have to baby all the time or only wear on special occasions.

sense youre considering i what itll be like when you have kids, would you consider a more practical everyday setting?

i saw you were looking to reset your grandmothers stone in the sholdt semi bezel. wold you consider that for your ring?

also i love the 5 stone!

The pictures of the five stone dont do it justice. The stones are just beautiful and the ring is so comfortable I forget I have it on. The only thing I may of done different is gone slightly bigger which I guess I still can. Trust me without your help and everyone else on here I'm not sure I would've went through with it. It's one of those rings that's easy to wear while still gives you a decent amount of bling.

I have a two year old now so I'm absolutely looking for something more practical for my e-ring. I would stick with a halo but look to simplify it and change it back to a round halo vs trying to make my stone something it's not. Im tossing around a lot of different ideas because I'm nervous if I move away from a halo that my stone will appear small to me. I'd stick with a halo id need to find a setting/vendor that could do it the way I want at the right price.

A couple of things I'm thinking: VC emilya with plain shank, BG truth head (4-prong) with pave shank OR BG recommended their halo spilt shank or one of their three stones with pears side stones.

What I love about the five some is its simplicity and absolutely know I want something with clean lines and minimal detail (no engraving or miligrain).

I would take a break and not reset until you figure out what Is most important to you, and prioritize your wants. You want the blinginess of a halo, yet you don't want to baby it. Yet you do care about the details and want a beautiful well executed one, which would inherently require some level of babying.

You are considering a solitaire with pave on the shank, which would require some babying, maybe less than a halo, but then would not give you as much coverage as a halo.

You just got a five stone so just wear that for a while and give yourself a break.

I've been wanting to reset my ring for a while now so this isn't something that just occurred to me. I've been tossing around a few ideas but a halo is what I want. What I don't like about my current reset is the miligrain, how my stone sits in the cushion cut halo and how one sides of the halo seems to be slightly uneven.

The settings I'm considering include the BG Allie or Sarah or the VC emilya potentially with a plain shank. Both are about the same investment so I'm trying to decide which would be the better choice. Looking back I should've returned the setting ERD did for me but at the time I was just so happy with the changes from my old setting that I didn't see the things I do now.

I do really love plain shank halos.

I think they are blingy while still looking like a solitaire.

Plus I think they "play " better with mixing and matching bands.

If its the same price for a vc vs bgd, I feel like that's no contest.

To help with your durability issue, would you consider a bright set halo maybe in a bezel? Similar to the Cartier plain shank halo?
(I'm finding pics)

I don't care for bezels that much. I prefer the halo and diamond to feel more seamless. I think removing the pave on the shank will help a ton and going back to a round halo vs cushion will also help. What do you mean by bright set? is that just the type of pave?

The difference is price is very little. I believe the mix of alloys VC uses is stronger but I could be wrong which is another benefit. I've never seen a VC ring in person but from everything I read his work is fantastic.

I get where you're coming from livewithease, I have a halo setting now and I couldn't go back to a solitaire. I am just too used to the hand presence and finger coverage. I love halos with plain shanks.

If both rings are very close in price, I'd go with Victor. He's a pave master and his work is exceptional!

As for durability, I think you have to be a bit careful with a ring, no matter what style. Even if I had a solitaire, I'd still take it off if I was doing an activity that might knock it or damage it.

I responded on my other thread regarding the quality of the 2 halos in question. In my opinion, there are very few vendors that can do delicate, u-cut pave very well. Victor's Emilya would be my choice if I were to do it all over again. Hope this helps! :wavey:

I have the Emilya with a plain shank, I love it! I get so many compliments, pictures really don't do that setting justice. I echo one of the comments above, to me it looks like a "dressed up" solitaire because of the seamless-ness between the diamonds. I don't sleep in it, work out, etc but I've had no issues with durability.

All of this info is great and certainly helps me to make up my mind.

Queenlfdiamonds33 would you be able to post pictures of your ring or do you have pictures posted on PS already that I can take a look at? I'd love to see what the ring looks like without pave on the sides. So you wear your ring alone or with a wedding band?
