Bezel studs (2.2tcw) - lowest setting to sit flat on lobe?

I've just impulse-purchased a pair of RBs from Alex Park - 1.12ct each, D VVS, 6.7mm. Unbelievably, this is my first ever RB purchase!

I am thinking I'd like them in milgrained bezels - not so much for the antiqued look as for the unobtrusive but sleek edge. Also, I already have lower colour antique OEC studs in an original YG 6-prong crown setting, so would like something totally different.

I need these to sit flat against my lobes and def do not want a pointed martini back. Am I better off with a single curved bar back, or a low basket-type setting? Pictures of stones, and of the types of backs I have seen attached. If you have other suggestions please share! I am not looking to spend $$$ on hand-forged settings or anything, and anticipate using 14k WG for these.

Thank you!

And for kicks, my existing OEC studs for comparison. I originally thought I'd reset them, but it's 12 years later and here we are, ha! 1.80OldMinerStuds2.JPG

I love bezel earrings! I think this RG setting would sit flush against the ear whilst being elegant from the front.

The reason I raise this is because mine are only ~40pts each and they are in a basket-type setting similar to this first setting you posted. As the sides are almost at a 90 degree angle to the bezel, the setting is noticeable from the front and makes the stud look “heavier” than ideal.

I tried on a pair of ~40pts each from Tiffany in the DBTY setting and they floated beautifully on the ear! But not sure how that setting will translate to larger stones.

So what I’m trying to say (badly though!) is that I think the curvature of the basket matters. The comparison below is 0.18ctw Tiffany DBTY vs my 0.8ctw studs.

I have smaller studs set into this setting and they fit very flush against the ear. DK made them for me but they seem very close to the ones you posted above. But again, mine are smaller. The rose gold ones are just about .53 each. That said, I agree that the curvature matters.
