Hello all,
I'm designing my engagement ring with Amy from David Klass Jewelry and need help describing the features I like on this inspiration ring. I've been going back and forth between bezel and prongs for the center stone and this setting seems to have aspects of both? What is this called?
I'm going for a streamline yet delicate look and I think the one above accomplishes that better than my original inspiration ring. Here for reference...
I asked Amy for a setting like this but with a thinner bezel and graduated stones on the lower half of the halo. (Waiting to hear back if shank stones are in the budget.)
Here's my dilemma, I like the clean lines of bezel and how it accentuates the pear shape. And the extra security that I don't have to baby the ring out fear the stone will come loose. However, I worry that the bezel covers too much of the stone or will sit too low in the halo. With prong I worry that it will sit too high or come loose.
Would a setting like this provide the security of a bezel with just a little height from the prongs? How do I describe the height of the stone in comparison to the halo? I like how its flush with no gap but just slightly elevated. Also do those claws look big enough to securely hold the stone? My stone is much smaller anyway so maybe that won't be a problem.
Are the stones in the halo and shank bead and bright? I like how you don't see the metal cut away on the sides around each stone but I don't know that proper terms for the setting.
